I live in NJ. In NJ, you must have car insurance. Currently, I don't have a car and never outright owned one. Why do you need car insurance? I hear people have it and get into an accident and it goes up. That confuses me. Do you like your car insurance? Does your state require car insurance?

I know that if you don't have car insurance in most states that it is a big fat ticket if you get pulled over. Trust me, you don't want to have no insurance. This happened to me one time and the guy that hit me did not have insurance either. It sucked because I had just got my car 2 months earlier, it was used but it was in great condition until it got t-boned in that accident. Then it had to be totalled.

Yes, car insurance I think is mandatory everywhere in the United States. I live in Florida and it is mandatory here. It covers your car and the other person's car, property, etc. Yes, I know if you have an accident then either your insurance company will cancel your insurance or else at the very least they will raise your rates.

I believe that here in the United States every state requires that you have car insurance. There are two kinds. One that covers the other car and passengers called minumin coverage and then there is full coverage that protects the loan company as well as the car you might have hit if you have an accident and you owe for the car.

I have a car insurance and I got one because I want to be secure that if ever I or my car gets involved in an accident, then I do not have to worry about the expenses for the damages, especially if its my fault. If I am the one at fault, then I will also have to pay for the car of the other party and that is still covered by the insurance with a minimum participation fee. I haven't experienced the premiums going up just because I had an accident, or maybe its because I already paid for the whole year. I think the insurance company will definitely raise their premium charges if you get involved in several accidents in a year because you will be categorized as a high-risk person.

Hi, smartie0317. I don't have a car. I will be placed on my husband's car insurance this year, before I get my driver's license. It may go up in the amount a bit though. Car Insurance protects you, the driver, if someone hits you while you are in your car. If they hit you and held liable, then their car insurance will have to pay for your damages. You get money back too.

Try remem to always let your car insurance company know if you modify your car in any way - even if it something simple like installing a sub woofer - without letting them know, your insurance could be invalide in the event of a claim.

If you don't have insurance and someone smashes into you and damages your car .You lose the car unless you have enough money to repair your car,or if you damage someone else's you have to pay for their repairs if the accident is your fault. It is a criminal offence in England if you drive without insurance. You cannot get road tax to take the car on the road.unless of course you submit an insurance document.Insurance is a legal requirement to keep the car on the road,no insurance no car.
