Music today isn't as good as in the 1980s   

I have to agree with you. But on a small note, a lot of the heavy metal bands are pretty awesome nowadays that I would prefer them over the 1980's. But I think Journey will always remain a favorite of mine from the 80's. Nothing like some Journey to get the day started!

I think you are talking about western music. I do know some western music but it's shame i don't exactly know the ages. I just remember which one is classical old one, which one is now popular one.

Because the pop developed so many years it's hard to have new or real development for musician in our ages. Also the good one you remembered from 1980s has passed the time tests and left to be the best. New songs still need time to be accepted by people and become a part of people's memory.

I like elbow band. i think if we give them time the band can be another bettles.

I was a 1980's teenager so I'm behind you 100% on this one! So many bands to mention too..... Wham, A-Ha, Poison, Bon Jovi, The Cure, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Michael Jackson, Boy George, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Eurythmics, The Communards, Belinda Carlisle, Phil Collins, 1927, Crowded House, Queen..... The list is practically endless!

I have been told that there is research showing that most people like the music from their high school days best. Personally I like country music the best and I like the old country from before I was born as well as the new country music. I prefer upbeat country to the sad songs.

I do listen to other types of music including gospel, soft rock, and classical. There is good musci out there today, but there is so much that is full of violence and other subjects that are not even pg rated.

I feel the same. This is why today I don't know much more about today's music. Perhaps this is the generation gap. But there are not many songs I like today. I still like the past songs much more.

Hi Maximax, in a simple word my tastes have never progresses beyond the 80's and don't think I actually know any music from after that, I'm stuck in a time warp with what I actually like. I remember certain songs from the 80's rather than groups but do think Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music were around then and still love their music. I think I lost interest in the top 40 when punk came in and when I hear the modern terms don't have a clue what they mean,just can't stand the din.

i very much agree with you. i'd say 70's and 80's has those beautiful music. my favorite is someone to love by jon b. also lover's paradise by will downing. i hope you have heard of those. tell me what is your favorite?

You won't get any argument from me. =) I love 80's music, I mean what's not to like? I can remember laying on the floor drooling over Joe Elliot singing Pour Some Sugar on Me on MTV. Wow, its hard to be believe its been that long ago. Sometimes I have to recalculate to make sure it's been rougly 27 years since Michael Jackson's Thriller video came on the tv and my brothers and I layed on the floor in antisipation.

Music is linked with the features of the different times. At the present quick pace, and diversified activities, it is natural that musicians and singers go to music styles to satisfy and express their hearts. I cannot say which is better, but the older melody seems better fit my feeling.
