Ok, with all the remakes appearing faster than you can shake a stick at, The Taking of Pelham 123, here comes another LOL! What would you say if they did a remake of Towering Inferno? Back in 1974, 35 years ago now OUCH! It hit the silver screen with Steve McQueen and Paul Newman But in the wake of The Twin Towers do you think they have purposely NOT decided to make a remake of the film for fear of it sparking controversy, upset and sensitivity? Would you go and see the remake if they made one? But who would fill the unfillable boots of Steve McQueen and Paul Newman? It just wouldn't be the same with different actors would it? Or do you think with special affects and technology 35 years on the film could actually be made into a big blockbuster again? What other old films would you like to see remade? Or what films that have been remade have you enjoyed more second time round? Plenty to choose from, all the old classics are coming out of the archives Poseidon, The Omen, Taking of Pelham 123, King Kong, Titanic, Assault on Precinct 13, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Escape From New York, Halloween, War of the Worlds, The Mummy. Any more? Oh and I do hope they don't resurrect that great white shark again, you know what I mean ;0)

LOL! I completely forgot about The Towering Inferno until you mentioned it! You'd think Hollywood would learn that most times when you do a remake most times it's worse than the original! Only on rare ocassions has the remake been just as good or even better than the original. I love Rob Zombie, but, his version of Halloween was a real disappointment. The remake of Amityville Horror was surprisingly pretty good and I definitely thought..... (what is the name of that movie with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo? I'm so embarrassed that I forgot the name of that movie) Anyway, I loved the remake of that one. The original with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway wasn't so great for me. I think you're right about The Towering Inferno. A remake would be too up close and personal for many people. By the way, have you seen the U.S.S. Nyew York? It was made from scrap metal from the Twin Towers. It really is incredible. Check it out when you get the chance! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

No more remakes of ANYTHING. It's time for new ideas. I still like the original King Kong, wobly building and everything. I saw trailers of the Starsky and Hutch film and all I could think of was, who the hell are these, they're not the right people. Steve McQueen and Paul Newman films should never be remade, who could be anywhere near as good?

The only remake I loved was Charlie and The Chocolate Factory but only because of Johnny Depp! He made it, I think if they choose the right actor then it can work but only with some films, classic films need to be left alone and not fiddled with (excuse my french!) Oh and I forgot to mention Dukes of Hazard too. Ok for the younger generation who haven't seen the original films but for us veterans who have seen the oldies we don't appreciate the remakes and people filling the boots of much loved and much missed actors, just not on!

I hated the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, there was only ever one Willie Wonka.

Hi Wolfie, just said it about the original Titanic and I'll say it again, leave them alone. I used to love the planet of the apes films when I was younger but couldn't find it to show my own son, he had to sit through the dreadful drivel remake, sorry to all those who liked the modern version but it just wasn't the same.

Personally I think it's a crafty way of making money, same could be said about some sequels, that shouldn't be made, the idea is exposed, to exploit it just weakens and cheapens it. I hated Planet of the Apes, Charlton Heston wasn't it? Boy I'm on top form tonight LOL. Never interested me.
