fwidman (5374) | 6 months ago | I often get this type of email but not from Yahoo. Anyone asking for your password is always to be suspected. The staff at Yahoo does not need your password, they already know how to get into our accounts to do things they need to do:)

2. kaz_man (252) | 6 months ago | Password: Alternative e-mail: Password:
If they are from yahoo, they wouldn't need your password to access your account. That email you got is called phishing email. Their aim is to steal your password and possibly hack your accounts, or spam emails to other people. Do not respond to those types of emails. Also check where it was sent from like yahoo.com.

3. babshish (715) | 6 months ago | Well I have not received any such mail, but seeing the content itself it seems a scam. Yahoo will not ask for your login details anyways. This is for sure a scam. so don't bother about this mail too much. If still you feel, you can forward this to yahoo support team to inform them about this mail. There are many such scams going around on the net, so beware before giving any of your information .

owlwings (5300) | 5 months ago | It's unlikely to be from anyone you know. People who send out emails like this either 'harvest' emails from the Web in various ways (often by asking you to register on some site) or they generate thousands of usernames randomly using software and send out emails to those addresses. Most of the mails they send may, of course, be to users who don't exist but many will be to unsuspecting users.
The object is, of course, to gain access to your Yahoo account. Yahoo very much want to know about these 'phishing' mails and do appreciate it if you can forward the mail as an attachment to abuse@yahoo.com.
If you don't know how to forward a mail as an attachment, don't worry (it's not very straightforward): someone else receiving it will probably have done so. The best thing for most people to do is to simply hit the Spam button and send it directly into your spam box.
You ought, by the way to make sure that your Yahoo Mail Settings are set NOT to open images/graphics by default or to receive text only mail. Many spammers use the fact that most people are set to receive HTML and show images by default to be notified that the mail was actually received and opened (they can't directly see which email address was used to open the mail this way but it allows them to know what percentage of mails in their list are actually valid).

5. sysdexlicwriter (1139) | 6 months ago | I entered into www.google.com the following: Yahoo email account scam
Guess what came up. It came up that this is a scam and gives details just like what you describe. The advice is to delete the message and absolutely do not respond. Here is the URL that I went to: http://answers.yahoo.com/... you ever suspect that someone is messing with you, try going to www.google.com and putting in the source and then add the word "scam" to the source. More likely than not you will find the scam listed there.
I hope this helps.

6. flaredust (340) | 6 months ago | That is a chain email from scammers, this happen also few times ago with one of myLot member too. Yahoo never ask stupid question like that, they already know their database as good as every user name and password. So, if they are the email provider why do they ask that to their user, they already had the data, why ask? Second thing is, yahoo now developing their server even with bigger one, every user now have unlimited storage of email, so for what purpose they do limiting user account? It's just lame trick from lame scammer.

7. Sandra1952 (1599) | 6 months ago | My email provider is Vodafone, and I received a similar email. I ignored it, as any reputable company will never ask for passwords or other personal information in an email - it's just not secure enough. Also, the email originated in New Zealand, while my Vodafone account is in the UK.
If they really wanted to update information, they'd direct you to a link on the website. Even then, I'd be wary of following it, as the phishers are known to set up bogus websites. If the request is genuine, and you log on to the company website, you will be able to update your account that way.
The most obvious giveaway that this is a scam is the phrase: 'to all account holders.' Genuine emails will always be addressed to you by name - it's standard business practice and it's the polite way to address someone. You may want to forward the email to Yahoo, so they can investigate further, but don't respond to it.

8. gcorp09 (548) | 6 months ago | Well, it looks like another scam e-mail to cheat users of their account. I will say that Yahoo will not send such e-mails asking for personal data of the users. In addition, if I'm not wrong, they did not attention to your name, right? This is another sign of a fraud e-mail from Yahoo! as they are just spamming and trying to cheat users of their account. I will say that you can just delete this e-mail and ignore it.
