Some ladies are not able to get pregnant |
|
They have tried unsuccessfully to get pregnant for years. The doctors have said their only possibility is IVF treatment. The lady must be under 39 years old and she is allowed one free of cost IVF treatment in my local area. In some other areas ladies are allowed to have up to three free IVF treatments. They call it the postcode lottery. Some ladies that can't get pregnant prefer to adopt a baby or a child that is unwanted.
What do you think? If you couldn't have children naturally would you want to try IVF? Would you prefer to adopt a baby or a child instead?

2. itsonlyndream (321) | 4 months ago | i have no idea what is IVF but if the women can't conceive, i suggest to adopt a baby... because there are lots of side effects and should not be pressure for some women who cannot conceive... just accept what happens and it will go away... sometimes some IVF treatments really harm not only for women but also the newborn babies...

maximax8 (10345) | 4 months ago | I think that medical treatment to have a baby can result in a multiple pregnancy. I know a lady that got pregnant with triplets. The doctors asked if she wanted a reduction but she didn't. Her boys were tiny at birth and each went into an incubator.

3. thea09 (4144) | 4 months ago | All I can say Maximax is that your postcode area is very generous. I don't know how they can call it a 'National' health service when different postcodes implement different rules, the whole thing is a complete nonsense.

polo_princess (594) | 4 months ago | Totally agree with you, it should be one rule for all or not at all, since everyone pairs their shares of taxes equally

maximax8 (10345) | 4 months ago | Postcode areas can be so different and it should indeed be the same health service for all. It is so silly that medical care varies depending on which location a British person lives in.

4. polo_princess (594) | 4 months ago | If came down to it and i needed to IVF would be my first option, i would consider adoption but would try other things first.
I think the postcode lottery is ridiculous, we all pay our fair and equal share of your taxes so i dont see why some people should get preferntial treatment just because of where they live. Imagine how devastating that is to people who have been trying for a baby for many years to find out they live in the "wrong are"

maximax8 (10345) | 4 months ago | I think it must be really upsetting for a couple that live in a 'wrong area'. It is expensive to have IVF treatment if it is not on the National Health Service. Privately it costs about four thousand pounds.

5. AmbiePam (15211) | 4 months ago | Around here IVF would not be free, although I'm not familiar with all of the requirements for the procedure. Unless I'm in the situation I don't know exactly what I would do. However, I think I would adopt a child rather than do IVF. Both are rather expensive. But I think it would make me feel better to know I'm taking care of a child that had no home, if I could not get pregnant myself.

maximax8 (10345) | 4 months ago | It would be so lovely to adopt a child that needed a loving home. I like your idea of thinking that adopting would be best. Taking care of a needy child would be really rewarding I think my friend Ambie Pam.

7. arkaf61 (5729) | 4 months ago | I might give in vitro a try. Hopefully it would work, but adoption would always be a good choice for me. There are many children in need of good parents and love. Maybe I'm biased because I was adopted, but I see no difference in being raised by birth parents or adoptive parents that love us as much. Actually even though I have my own children, if my life changed a bit and I could commit myself financially I would still like to adopt. Personally I think it doesn't really matter all that much if we carried that child inside us or not, we can love both equally.

8. kl_blueknight (318) | 4 months ago | Nature has its own funny ways of balancing the population. For those unable to conceive, adoption makes common sense and helps out those poor unwanted orphans. On the other hand, the feeling of being able to get pregnant through IVF and actually give birth as a mother brings sheer joy which only a mother knows. I am not a woman but after working as a male nurse for a number of years in sevral UK General Hospitals, I too feel with joy whenever I see a new baby being born and the twinkle in both the mother and baby's eyes is undiscribeable. Life is forever wonderful.

9. Poison_Girl (3318) | 4 months ago | I don't even know what IVF is and I've never heard of it. I know I'd never want it, though. I don't even want kids and consider those that are "unable" to have them very lucky. I'd love to get myself sterilized to decrease my chances of getting pregnant. If it were up to me, I'd just have my ovaries removed. They're pretty useless anyway, right? Plus, they only cause me pain and trouble.

10. Hatley (20151) | 4 months ago | maximax8 hj hatley here. I think if you hAve lots of money and cant get pregnant the ordinary its okay tohave IVF. As for me I couldnt afford it and anyway i got socked with a necessary historectomy after mysecond child so adoption was the only way and my husband refused to Adopt a child.
