Yesterday I was being silly again. Tiger was rolling around on the floor doing a tummy up and I started singing to him. Something to an operatic number with my own lyrics. Which, by the way, scanned perfectly and rhymed too. Off the cuff. My hidden talent. lol
Anyway, Naomi started rolling around on the floor saying, "ooooh make her stop, my head hurts."
So I said, "I'm practicing for my opera debut."
That's when Dearra turned around and said in a stern voice, "Mom, give up the dream."
I laughed so hard.
Well OK, maybe I'll never be an opera singer.
OK, honestly I'll never be any kind of a singer...
But I do like to sing. And after all, it's a mom's job to torture her kids just a little bit, right? (evil grin)

It's a Mom's job to teach her children to strive to be the best they can be. You have a wonderful sense of humour, wacky, funny and lovely. You set a fine example for your young ones and I see them happily following in your footsteps Madam Butterfly.

There is nothing wrong in being silly in fact i think it's great u have the fun w/your kids that u do. I know u are a very good mom to take the time to have fun w/them. I always did the same thing w/my kids, still do sometimes even tho they are grown. That's just love, friend.

How funny! I wasn't singing, but this morning, while my kids and I were delivering our newspapers, I decided to act a bit silly. Have you ever seen some old women driving with their heads really close to the windshield, leaning all the way forward, hands at ten and two? Well, I decided to drive like this and while I was at it, I kept talking to my kids in different voices. I had them laughing really hard. Then, my olodest, who is 12 was in the front seat and we were headed to the store before coming home. I kept up my act, driving now down the busiest street in town. At first, he was like, "Mom...stop it!" Then he got into the act himself when he saw other people looking at me crazy. He just laughed and pointed at me as they watched. It was quite funny because I am not normally one to just act goofy out of the blue like that, and my kids didn't expect iy at all.
Yes, it is definately a Mom's job to torture and embarrass oiur kids, just a little, and for me, it is the most fun when they are least expecting it.

sounds like you have been having fun this week with the children. well, I love to sing and can't hold much of a tune. Some say I can't hold a tune at all but that is not true. All of my children were about six years old when they asked me not to sing to them anymore. I still don't know why? anyway, I still sing to the grands and up to yesterday, coming home from Mo'Bay with my daughter and 8 year old GD we sang and sang.
The daughter and GD can't sing either but we had a good time until GD found her long lost recorder in the back of her aunt's car and she started to play the recorder.
It took a while to get her to stop as she didn't really get our hints. She played until she was out of breath I suppose.

That's for sure! It truly can't be that bad! LOL......we have something in common then. I sing all the time and usually don't realize that I am doing it...sometimes on the way to work I hear a song and sing it all day long! LOL....makes everyone miserable..

Hi dawnald,
Well I think its good fun singing and makes you feel happy, my mum used to sing all the time and she had a voice of an angel, I could never tire of hearing her sing, that is what I miss. I once was doing my housework and singing at the same time, then I looked out the window of my bedroom, I saw a funny sight my neighbousrs were out in the garden with cotton wool in their ears, lol!!!
