I am not sure about your country, but getting a postpaid is so much cheaper and convenient. If you are worried about overspending, you can in fact ask the telco to set a limit of your choice! Prepaid is such a hassle.

myLot reputation of 99/100. Iriene88 (1176)   ranked 115 out of 35,182 in people  4 months ago

Dear cooldude_no1,

I too are post paid user. I heard from my second sister that every now
and then she need to top up her prepaid until she always have extra
unused credit. It is quite a hassle that if she did not top it up,
she could not make outgoing call but she still can receive calls.

My Maxis post paid line sometimes have good promotion too. If I take
up a certain promotion, assuming a minimum of RM150.00 per month, they
will give a free handphone but must subsribe a specific period of time.

Thanks for sharing, all the best!

I have used Nextel as my cell phone provider for many years...never pre-paid. I originally chose Nextel for it's 2-way option, which I still find very convenient. I probably use my cell phone more than I use a landline phone because I'm regularly at different places throughout the day...at home...at our business...or on the road...and it's easier for people to reach me if they just call my cell.

myLot reputation of 99/100. Iriene88 (1176)   ranked 115 out of 35,182 in people  4 months ago

Dear spalladino,

Great to hear from you, really appreciate ithappy

Nextel definitely has continuously providing a very good service
to all its users...that's why they achieved such a high retention
percentage of users:)

It is true, most of us now are using more cell phone than the
landline. At home I had converted my land line for fax machine
to receive incoming faxes.
Truly agree with you, using cell phone is much convenientthumbup

Hi there Iriene88,

I guess today, nobody can live without a cellphone. I use a pre-paid account. Why? Because I dont call out much. I am a stay at home mother so basically I am always at home. I dont need to call out much and even if I do, I use the fixed line. And many people call me on my fixed line too. My cellphone is only handy during the weekends when I go out. I use Maxis. It rocks as it gives me many freebies. I call them handphones. But in myLot, I call it cell phone as it sounds more universal?

myLot reputation of 99/100. Iriene88 (1176)   ranked 115 out of 35,182 in people  4 months ago

Dear submerryn,

Glad to hear from youhappy

So, your cell phone only works 2 days week:)
Great job..Oh yes, Maxis Rocks, many freebies~ X-pax?
By the way, your land line is it on Merdeka line promotion?
My eldest sister is using the Merdeka line whereby she have
to pay RM66 monthly. She can make unlimited calls from her
landline to another landline anywhere in Malaysia. It is worth
it for those heavy callers.

Hi Iriene, here a mobile phone is called a 'kinito' which comes from the word movement. Everyone seems to have one and they are in constant use, especially when driving. I buy a card from the supermarket with nine euros credit and the nice man puts it in for me as I am useless at anything like that. The card is from a company called Cosmote. They don't work very well though, to get a reception from the house I have to hang over the balcony as far as I can and if it's winter and the shutters are shut there is no reception at all. I only use it from the house when there's a power cut and the landline goes down.

myLot reputation of 99/100. Iriene88 (1176)   ranked 115 out of 35,182 in people  4 months ago

Dear thea09,

kinito sound like kinetic...any relations? Both also about movement.
You are using the card - we call it pre-paid here. Wow, you are so
lucky to have nice man to help you on this. My second sister also
asked the guy who sell the prepaid card to load for her.

The Cosmote lines are really bad...poor reception!

A few years ago, when I was in KLCC Suria besides the Petronas Twin Towers
at certain part of the building, there is no line/ reception at all. I
thought my cell phone was spoiltlol

Thanks for sharing, btw I left a comment at your photo session.

it works...

myLot reputation of 99/100. Iriene88 (1176)   ranked 115 out of 35,182 in people  4 months ago

Dear yogesh,

You are using the airtel prepaid services...at least you can control
your outgoing calls limited by the credit available. It is true, I
sometimes tend to overspend on my post paid line. There is one time
it reached RM500.00 per month due to my roaming services that I
activated when I went abroadsad

Dear Karen,

It is wonderful to have pre-paid service with unlimited everything!
Do you mean unlimited outgoing calls? Unlimited outgoing sms too?
IN Malaysia, sometimes prepaid service got promotion like free 100
sms...therefore, my friend used to sms me on anything 'under the sun',
she has too much free sms, cannot use finishlol

Thanks for sharing and take care!

happy Hi Iriene, yes...unlimited out-going and in-coming phone calls, text messages, and two-way usage. I pay the fee on a certain day each month right over the cell phone itself using information from my debit. No contract, no extra fees, no surprises on one's bill!! And when I pay that way, I do not have to mess with buying the pre-paid cards. happy

Yayyyy! thumbup

It is so convenient and economical too, great jobthumbup

I just wonder whether they have this fantastic prepaid service
in Malaysia. At the moment the leading provider of pre-paid
service are DIGI in Malaysia. Post paid provider that is very
successful is MAXIS...I am using post paid - Maxis.

All the best and happy mlyLotting!

Definitely. I will use the postpaid. Prepaid is only good for those who make calls all the time.In Malaysia there are a few providers. Mine is Maxis. We called it here a hand-phone and we called texting SMS. THat is the short form of short message service. I do not know what other countries called these. In America, it is called texting and the phone is referred to as a cell-phone.

myLot reputation of 99/100. Iriene88 (1176)   ranked 115 out of 35,182 in people  4 months ago

Dear jonjee,

I always thought the other way around. I thought
heavy caller prefer post paid. Thanks a lot for
the information, it really has enlighten mewink

Oh yes, some of the myLotters also mentioned that 'cellphone'
is more universally used. We, Malaysian always called it
handphone..at tiems we called it mobile phone too!

All the best and take care:)

Prepaid is also good for those to receive calls all the time. Artisans like plumbers and subcontractors have prepaid so that even though their credit has run out, the period has not and he can still receive calls. For me, I use postpaid because my daughter need only to pay a RM10 ringgit monthly subscription. Also calls between us as well as well as sms are very low cost. The bills are not really too high. when she started on prepaid, it always finishes quickly and we have to buy top-up cards ever so often that we think apart from the cost, it was the hassle to keep on reloading the credits.

I am using postpaid as I don't fancy the need to top up my pre-paid everytime the credit has been used up. It is kind of convenience to use the postpaid. I normally use my mobile phone for calling and receiving calls from friends and colleagues. It is more mobile as compared to the fix line.

myLot reputation of 99/100. Iriene88 (1176)   ranked 115 out of 35,182 in people  4 months ago

Dear kaiwah,

Glad to hear that you are a post paid user. My family
and I are post user too, but my sisters are using pre-paid,
I always heard them saying need to top up, it is quite a
hassle when we need to make an urgent call, and we are out
of credit -sigh-

I have a prepaid line but I do also have a postpaid line. And my mobile provider is Globe Telecom - I'm from the Philippines by the way!

Here in the Philippines, having two mobile phones is a usual thing. Actually, some have more!

We are not the "texting capital of the world" for nothing! Hehe!

Dear CMTS_87,

Oh yes, I heard that the Philippines has the highest
sms/ texting in the Asia Pacific region...now I was
informed by you that actually it is known as the
'texting capital of the world' WOW....

Fantastic, this means that the people of Philippines
will spend quite a lot of their income in communication.
This prove that the people of Philippines are very thoughtful
and always 'keep in touch!' Keep it up!happy

I also prefer to use prepaid because sometimes postpaid has a limit and it is fixed rate. I don't text and call that much so that's why I use prepaid. I'm SMART and GLOBE subscribers. I'm observed here in the Philippines postpaid users are very few Filipinos often use prepaid because it is cheap and readily available. I'm have E-loading business so that's why I know, Filipinos still prefer to use prepaid.

Dear Warren,

You prepaid provider is called SMART but you are not
satisfied with it!
May I know why you said so, is it they bar you from
calling out or any other issues?

In my sister's case, it is not that her credit finish, but
because the time expired..she need to top up, if not she can't
call out...it is really a hassle.

Thanks for sharing and do keep in touch!
