Do you feel all Asians look like the same?  

I am Asian and I don't have difficulty in distinguishing between two people from my own country (INDIA) but I find it a bit difficult to identify people from China and Japan, I feel they all look similar and relatives of each other.
If any 2 random person can look alike then what about their family members, they will all be twins

Yes sometimes I'm also an Asian but we can distinguised who are Filipinos. In some Asian neighboring countries it is hard to tell who are Japanese, Chinese and Koreans because they look all the same. Same with the Europeans it is also hard to tell which country they are from if you refering to their appearances. Filipinos are recognizable because of the accents and even we are mixed of some races we can be easily distinguised.

I am a Asian from Singapore, and i find no difficulty differentiating Asians and know whether they are Japanese, Chinese, korean or taiwan ;D But i have difficulty differentiating other races though, not that i am racist or what, everyone of them seems almost similar to each other ;x

I'am from asians. I always see some American movies or TV show .In fact sometimes it's a litte hard for me to tell from one person to another .
Some of us think asians or other countries peple look like the same I think it might because we don't know each other very well .Maybe the more different countries people you recognise, then more clearly you can distinguish.

I completely agree with you. The gals from Japan, china, Singapore , Korea etc, all of them look similar to me, I can't identify them even after close look. It becomes very difficult for me, I have a very hard time recognizing characters in Chinese movies
You seem to have done a lot of study to recognize them, good for you, but you still got confused with your boss

Yes, I agree. But it is not just Asians, I think it is that way with every race. I am white and I could not distinguish a white person from America from a white person from another country, just by looking at them!

yeah, I think maybe the whites also feel the same about white people, hardly differ from which countrt they are. But generally I can differ people from Europe and US. The European usually has classic face structure, the nose, the jaw, the forehead, while American usually have rounder face. It's hard to explain this in words, I have to look at the person:) I also found it hard to remember Chinese names, which usually has 3 words. All the words seems the same,luckily many Chinese added Western name to their Chinese names, easier to remember..

You say exactly what I mean - Afircan american but I would just look at them as African... It is specially hard for me to distinguish if I don't hear their accent, I might not even be able to tell their nationality by listening to their accent. Thanks for sharing :-)

It takes time to identify people.

yes i also do agree with you that what you are saying is absolutely right...specially except countries like china and japan..almost all countries ...have unidentical communities...people do not look like each other if they do look like then they would surely be a twins or somthing like that..but u know in china and japan almost all people are very identical to each other..one can not judge them whith one go..!!! :) ;)

I am a female caucasian. Living in America there are folks from all cultural backgrounds everywhere, and a great many intermixed. It has taught me to ignore these things, except as an interest in various cultures. So I don't think about it much.

Once I get to know a person as a person, then their cultural background may - or may not - become a topic of discussion, because it may influence the way they act or feel or believe.

It is hard to look at someone and know where they came from. I think some countries, like India or Iran, have not intermixed nearly as much and so have more classic, recognizable features. Others, like Korea, China, and Vietnam, have intermixed so it is more difficult. Here in America it is practically impossible to tell by features alone.

The way a person acts or speaks is sometimes an easier way of telling.

Oh yea... it is the other thing that I cannot tell - American with Italian background, my honey is an American but he as Italian background, when I first met him, I couldn't tell he is an Italian at all! Because most of them still speak very fluent English, I though tItalian 's accent is different.

You know my condition ? Whenever I see people with small curvy eyes, I consider them as Chinese, when asked they may even be from Japan or Korea or Singapore or Phillipines, I really can't distinguish, I am a bad one

I check your profile, since your from India, you're kinda belong to the Middle Group right? uhmmm.let's see Iraqi's,Israels,pakistanis,Iranians, and probably your country had also some similarities..and i too get confused

They are really somehow similar and the resemblance of the features of the faces, skin, height, even eyes are enough to mislead an observer that they are from the same races judging from their appearances. we only know them better when they started to speak in their own languages, it is then you could identify from what countries they belong..

Pilpino people are mostly based from Malay and Indo descents..there some too but i don't remember

I can easily distinguish lots of Asians besides Malaysian, Indonesian.

But how come you can think a black looks like Tom Cruise???

I think it is a little easier to recognise Chinese, Philipinos for white people becaues Chinese tend to have yellowish skin and brownish skin.

nope. Not all Asians look alike. There are those chinky-eyed, blue-eyed, tan in color, darker in color of the skin, and there are white... I, for one, have a fair complexion and somewhat chinky eyes. It just depends on your race or origin

hahahaha....all asian look same??? I agree what tristansite says. there's a lot asian race. I was ask the same for western people (white people) that a lot of their faces are the same for me too.
