The last cruise I went on was my honeymoon, and the one thing I learned from that was...never to do that again.

I am going next week! Seven nights on board and I am becoming so excited about it. and yes, in the brochure there are many interests and activities for everyone who is interested in learning history etc or practical skills.

Sure! I'd do it. Sounds like a lot of fun plus education. You should give it a try. There are travel agencies here that let you pay payments on a cruise for up to a year. That would be a good option if you couldn't afford it all at once.

I have never been on a cruise, it sounds like fun. I would enjoy being with a group of people who were all working to learn similar things. It will probably be a long time before I can go on a cruise. I can dream, though. I would also like to learn other things about the computer, on a cruise or anywhere.

If only I could afford to go on a cruse I'd be thrilled but not too sure how trainable I would be lol.

Interesting concept. Don't know how much I'd learn on a cruise, though. If I went on a cruise, I think I'd like to relax as much as possible.

I won a cruise way back in 1980, only it wasn't a big ocean liner, it was a 43' sailboat that cruised around the Virgin Islands. We had a captain and a cook besides my brand-new husband and myself. (We turned it into a honeymoon cruise.)
If I was to go on an ocean liner, though, I think I'd be more interested in just lounging around and enjoying the sea air. I love learning new things but if I was traveling, I'd just want to take in as much of the scenery as I could. Maybe, if it was just ocean, day after day, I'd want to do something else. That might not be a good idea for me, though, because I heard that they have some awesome food on those cruises! LOL
As far as learning things like Photo Shop goes, I'd rather learn on my own. I've found that I get rather impatient when taking a class. I pick things up pretty quickly so I'd be wanting to move ahead at my pace and not waiting for the rest of the class. I taught myself website design, html and flash coding and have a program called Visio which is Photo Shop-ish and have been playing around with that, too. It's how I've learned most of the things I've learned since leaving school behind.
But, to take a cruise just to take a cruise, yep, I'd love to! One day, maybe.

I guess you're right about looking at ocean all the time. It would get pretty boring. However, the "Geek" trip is not JUST for computer buffs taking classes...it's also a trip to relax and enjoy yourself. You don't have to take in ANY class(es) if you don't want to.
The boat stops at different ports along the way to pick up passangers. At the same time, you're quite welcome to disembark, see the sights, shop around, and then re-embark...or you can get off where you like and make your way home from there. It's up to you how you want to spend your time. They have different foods from all over the world to sample, entertainment, swimming, plus you get your own quarters if you just want to get away from it all. Sure it's computer cruise, but it's also a cruise for anyone who's not into computers. Moms, dads, kids alike, are all welcome to join in the fun.
