Most excitement I've had all MONTH!

So, I'm sitting here, minding my own business, thinking about bed when **CRASH** and sirens! I jump up and run out the front door in time to see a guy running and a cop tackle him! Oh BOY! My own front seat on an episode of COPS! There's a big red pickup truck rammed onto the fence the neighbors across the street had built around their house and 2 police cars on the street, one siren blaring! Lights flashing! Cops cuffing the "perp" and stuff. Oh MY! I live in a quiet little neighborhood, this is like only the 4th or 5th time we've had anything so exciting going on! And I've lived here for over 25 YEARS! I'm so jazzed, I'll probably have trouble getting to sleep! Roomie asked who would be responsible for fixing the fence, I said his insurance - if he has any, she then suggested the truck might even be stolen, and well it might. So, anything exciting happen around your place lately?

Hi Elic, I like excitment but not that kind, anyone could have got hurt there, we don't seem to have any knid of excitment round here as it a very quiet cul-de-sac where my house is and alos a very quiet town. Tamara

Well, Tamara, I used to live in a much more exciting neighborhood, and while I don't miss the sometimes weekly displays, I have to admit there have been times where I'm not sure anyone is still around at night. Used to be we sometimes got drunks getting lost and hitting cars trying to get out of the neighborhood, but that hasn't happened lately.

LOL That certainly is exciting. I get a certain adrenaline rush when something "exciting" like that happens, too, for some weird reason. I actually don't live in a very quiet neighborhood - I live in an inner city so I actually hear sirens every night - it has become like a lullaby for me to get to sleep to, actually. . Rarely does the confrontation happen right outside my house, though - as whatever it is (usually just fights and people getting jumped or being drunken/disorderly) is usually just down the block or nearby but not in my neighborhood necessarily. So..What exactly was the situation? Was the guy drunk driving and trying to play cat-and-mouse with the cops?

Well, I didn't go ask, but when I poked my nose out later, EMS was out there - I guess either the truck hitting the fence or the cops making him do a header into the sidewalk must've hurt him a bit. He didn't look too damaged to me from across the street - but I did see him after they put him in the police car.

Wow, that IS exciting!! It's not too exciting where we are. We live downtown and not far from a hospital so we hear a lot of sirens going by all the time of the day or night. Sometimes our neighbor needs help and they call an ambulance and the fire department (not sure why). Oh, once there was a giant tree stump that someone had thrown under the overpass right next to our house and someone came along and set it on fire. We called the fire department for that. We've had awful graffiti sprayed on the overpass that is literally just a few feet from our house. That's creepy. But generally, not much happens here.

around here, if EMS is dispatched, the fire dept goes too, because generally they can get there faster

As a matter of fact yes...there was something exciting last week. Of course these sort of things are relative. There were a couple of very young emus living across the road with 7 pet goats and 4 sheep. It's been a few months and they are not quite full sized yet. I happened to look out my front window and there they were, strolling along the street on the footpath. They stopped at my tree that hangs over the fence and had a nibble then continued. I had been out so my gates were open and one strolled in. I was trying to operate the camera and keep my distance as this bird was not scared of me (being used to humans)and quite curious. When the cat shot past me I realised I had left the screen door open in my excitement. I called and Banjo stopped to roll over on the cement and I was able to throw the camera in a pot plant and pick him up. The same time I did this he saw the "giant bird" and wanted me to let him go. He started to wriggle (a LOT) and the emu was attracted and started to come towards us...he was only a few feet away and so I threw Banjo inside where he growled and took off down the hall and into my room where he watched from one of my windows. The bird walked around my verandah eating berries and flowers off plants then he checked out the side yard where he spotted the goats. They must not have seen him. Lucy remained asleep in the sun under a tree during the whole thing. They joined up again outside my yard and were last seen up the road...one was at the shop while the other one was checking out the pub.

Emus are curious and inquisitive. - Emus are very curious but also dangerous. They have a big foot with 3 toes and the centre toe is lethal. They will also peck at a victim.
I had wanted to add a photo...

No...Can’t say I have witnessed anyone resisting arrest lately! We don’t have much going on in our street unless you count the time that someone got fed up with one of the neighbours who kept piling old pieces of furniture and unwanted household goods on the front verge and decided to set fire to it causing havoc and the fire brigade to have to come out!

I am carrying the work pager and staff in one of the programs that was supposed to be in at work at 6 a.m. called me, her daughter had fallen down stairs and was badly hurt. She was going in to the hospital and I had to take care of details for her daily shift. That is about it.

Wow. I love to watch COPS. I am glad they caught him. I bet they will make him responsible for fixing the fence by doing community service or something if he did not have insurance ro the vehicle was stolen, etc. You never know what will happen in quiet neighborhoods anymore.

Yeah, I think COPS is a great show, I saw one that was filmed in San Antonio, and I think they did one in Austin, but I haven't seen it - even if I did, I don't think I recognized the areas because they always go with officers that go into bad areas, and I avoid those areas - for some strange reason - I do have a pretty good idea where they are tho

In the 9yrs we have been living here, only one thing exciting happened and that was when the police chief, of all people, got drunk at the bar down the street and drove his motorcycle into the bridge, flipping over the handlebars and landing in the creekbed below. Some lady had to hold his head up so he wouldn't drown. I would of left the azzhole to drown. This street is full of young kids and he WAS the police chief. He knew better than to do what he did. My hubby was behind him while driving home and said the guy was swerving all over the road. He could of hit someone. I'm glad he's no longer the chief but not happy that he is still a cop roaming the roads. He didn't get no jail time, no DUI, nothing but a slap on the wrist.

Not lately. You're lucky there wasn't a shoot out. Stray bullets have been known to go through walls...

[b]Yes. One night a woman I know had some sort of hostage event take place directly across the street from her house, with a SWAT team, flashing police lights &, everything, & for that same reason you noted, the very next day, she traded bedrooms with her son, so that her bedroom would face that street, & not his! You are lucky to have such an excitement. I am quite bored and feel lethargic nowadays since going to my interns...It is totally dull when you don't have any real work to do. Well, I guess the most exciting thing that will happen to me is after my interns..weeweee......Maybe in these time I might find great things soon but I won't disclose it right here..hehe...secret...We will see how exciting it will be after my investment...

Well since my neighbor has gotten old he isn't as exciting as he was about 5-6 years ago. He stayed in trouble with the cops similar to the episode you just witnessed. My neighbor would out run the cops at least twice a week. He would always bring them home with him which is right next door to me. Once I saw where they had him straddle up against the side of his house searching him. His hands was raised and his feet was spread, when he notice me looking at them he told me to call his brother, which I didn't, I wasn't going to interfere with the law because I knew he was a law breaker. Well he cussed me out but I didn't care. It was exciting anyway.

at least that kind of excitement isn't always welcome - neighbors should be nice and quiet - not like the crazy lady across the street....

I haven't had anything interesting happen around where I live at all. And, whenever I'm at home we rarely have anything interesting happen either. We live in such a small rural area at home, everything tends to happen more on the main roads and not the side roads. However, when something interesting does happen it tends to be rather large like cars catching on fire in neighbors driveways or something.

ohhh, that happened once around me - not here, but I was at a business waiting for a meeting to start and suddenly the car across the street started smoking! I told someone who knew the address call 911 and one of the members grabbed a fire extinguisher and ran across the street - they kept it from breaking out and blowing up, but took the firemen to finally get it out
