A Sixty-one yr old man slapped this little girl. I don't care how much the childs crying bother the man he had no right to touch her in any manner. It's the parents choice in how to handle the situation. Maybe say something but do nothing further.... http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/09/02/georgia.tot.slapped/index.html

I heard about that yesterday and believe me, if that man had touched my child he would not be in jail--he'd be in the hospital!! I hope they throw the book at him and his you-know-what rots off so he can't possibly reproduce and I hope he has no kids of his own already. That old jerk should be put away for life.

I bet if he does have kids of his own I bet he did it to them in a store of all places or whomever. I bet his family is also quite embarassed of the incident as well.

that's so mean! he should have just talked to the mother and let her handle the situation. he had no right to slap her. and 4 times? goodness! i would really hit anyone who'd do that to my kid.

I don't know how she let him do that or he did it so fast she could hardly spin around from whatever she was focusing on to know what happened. Sadly, she'd of gotten charged with battery for retaliating even though that would be our natural instinct to fight back.

OMG! I can't believe it! I can tell you one thing though, and I'm 62, if that guy would have slapped my Granddaughter, he'd be looking up at me from the floor. No way, no how, would I let someone do that. He looks like a nasty ol' man too, disgusting creep. Grrrr.....

He does look like a creepy angry bloke doesn't he! No need to take his frustrations out on an already upset child.

What?! I didn't hear about this. I don't know where I've been. Guess I need to pay attention to the news more. I'm guessing the man wasn't related to this girl. What a nut. I'll check out the link you provided.

I agree with you totally. It was not up to him it is up to the parents how they want to handle there child. That was very wrong and disturbing.

Exactly! What right does anyone other than a parent have to disapline a child in such a way?

Wow this man has the nerves to appologize. He should beg for forgiveness. Good for the cops to arrest him. If I was that mother before the cop came I would have taken something from the shelves and start beating him so he knows how he feels. I understand some people don't like to hear a crying child but let the mother handle it. Maybe ignoring the child to make her stop is what she was doing. If he had some patients maybe the child would have stopped. Happy lotting.

exactly one does not know why the child was crying in the first place and how the parent was handling it. Sometimes one does have to get their shopping done no matter if the child is upset over something or not. And how does slapping the child going to make the tot stop? Yeah, the tot will cry more... duh.

Same story I wrote about.... This man had no right at all & will have plenty of time behind bars to think about what he did to that little girl & her mother. Shame on him!

I HATE screaming, crying kids, and think that parents NEED to either control them or leave them at HOME. I think he only did what I've been TEMPTED to do many times!

There's been once or twice I've wanted to slap the parent of a child in Wal-mart. Sure other people's kids aggrevate me a lot, but rarely is it the child's fault, especially depending on the child's age. It's the parents who allow the child to behave that way in public. My kids have never thrown a tantrum in public. The 19 month old has been known to cry and whatever, but he's a baby and I can't really control that. But the older kids walk right behind me in a line, never asking for anything, never grabbing stuff, just walking along and talking to each other. That's it.
