How often you say "Thank You"? |
|
I was brought up and taught the importance of saying of saying " thank you" whenever someone do me a favor. But there are times when I'm in hurry or I'm in a bad mood and completely ignore showing this little act of gratitude. I really felt regretful most of the times. But it's just that I can't help it.LOL
How about you, how often you say "thank you"? Does saying "thank you" matters to you?
Have a great weekends everyone!

2. thea09 (4144) | 3 months ago | Hi careguardn, I automatically always say thank you, there is always enough time for that, and I also get annoyed with people who don't do this. My son has also been brought up to always say thank you. On one occassion I returned several of the local boys back to the village after a football game and one had asked for a lift, he wasn't part of the arrangment between parents that we have. He failed to say thank you at the other end but I was proud of the other boys who told him he was rude and to return and say thank you. In this culture the word thank you is always returned with either the words for 'you're welcome' or the lovely 'teepota' which means it's nothing.

careguarden (415) | 3 months ago | It's good that you thought your son the act of showing gratitude, so that virtue, would always remained and passed to other generation. Because of what I experienced nowadays most of young ones were not really practicing that kind of virtue. And it's sad to know that some parents forgot to teach their children the importance of it.
Thanks for sharing with us and enjoy your weekends!

3. aprces (637) | 3 months ago | Although there is only two simple words, but it's not very easy for anybody to speak out when they accept some favors. It's not a habit problem but experiences from childhood. It depends on many different elements such as growth environment, parenting, home education even some what food you usually eat................... etc.
I know people usually don't like someone who never say a "Thank You",they enjoy hearing this wave of sound. But sometimes "Thank You" is not only on your mouth,it needs action too.Anyway, keep saying "Thank You" will make you become a popular person,Yeah?

careguarden (415) | 3 months ago | Yeah, I agree with you. There's so many factors that shaped the person on his/her behavior towards being grateful. But foremost it start in home,if parents taught and explained their children the reason why to always say "thank you" and put it into practiced. Then certainly their children will make it habit of saying "thank you".
Saying 'thank you" is showing humility and gratefulness for what the person have done to you. Yeah, it will also make you famous, because only humble people would be truly admired.

thea09 (4144) | 3 months ago | Well I have to put my two cents worth in here, I don't agree using the words 'thank you' is either humbling or a popularity contest, it is just a natural thing to do. How ignorant does the person look who can't break away from their conversation for a moment to say 'thank you' to the person bringing their coffee in the cafenion, as an example. I think the person who ignores this act makes themselves look shifty and deserves to be kept waiting longer than usual to receive their next coffee. Thus the coffee wielding person would also thank you for coming to their cafenion and kiss one goodbye and express the wish that you come again, are they looking for popularity, of course not, they enjoy the mutual gossipping, and are genuinely happy to see certain friends.

| 4. vannice95 (65) | 3 months ago | I say thankyou everytime someone does me a favor or gives me something. It is really important because we should be grateful to God for what we have that comes from Him, and so that He would bless us more! Even when we are in a hurry or in a bad mood, we should not forget to say "thank you" at all times!

careguarden (415) | 3 months ago | Yeah, you're right,no matter what state of emotion we are we should not forget to say 'thank you". Most especially to God, He deserves our gratefulness.

| 5. Fyrekisser (34) | 3 months ago | I find I say thank you quite often, I think it has to do with how I was raised though because I know I also apologize way too much! It's something that some people do and some people don't.

6. grace118224 (671) | 3 months ago | Same to you that whenever someone does me a favor i would say "thank you" . It's a kind of habit . Interesting that i don't realize whether i say or not when i'm in a good mood or in a hurry. However i seldom say any thanks to my hubby or any other family members . Should we also say "thank you" to them? If we say "thank you "to them does it mean that we become strangers?
| |
| |
|
|
careguarden (415) | 3 months ago | Good that you make it as a habit. Since most of people don't really put a value on it. You should also say "thank you" to your hubby or any family members. And it doesn't make you a stranger. It only makes you a good person, and you give them a good example as well. There's no exemption on saying "thank you".

7. rg0205 (1718) | 3 months ago | I was brought up in a very conservative family. My mom would shoot dirty looks if I ever failed to say "please" or "thank you"...so on...
It comes naturally to me these days so I say it whenever someone does something for me, even in restaurants, shops, etc. People say I'm too polite or too nice but I think sometimes a simple "thank you" doesn't take much effort. It can also brighten someone's day. It does work for me, especially when I'm down.
I used to work in a coffee shop when I was a teenager and sometimes, a simple thank you would make me smile because most people don't know how to say that.
I admit that I've been guilty of forgetting at one point or another but not done deliberately though.
Now I'm an adult, my Mom's way of raising me did stick. Today, I often get comments by my associates/ colleagues that I'm a well mannered person which I find nice and flattering.
Good manners matter to me. In fact, one of my biggest peeves is rudeness and rude people.

careguarden (415) | 3 months ago | Now, you proves that home plays the major role in shaping values and character of a person. And parents should be blamed if their children don't know how to say "thank you"LOL
You've been such a good example to all the people that you've met and most especially to you colleagues. You impart a gift of gratitude in their life.
Thanks for sharing with us and enjoy your weekends!

9. rksbigblue (105) | 3 months ago | I live in London and I don't think there is anything else which you say more than "Thank you" and "Sorry". Its a nice gesture and definitely softens the other person and expresses gratitude well. I have been doing this since childhood and its been a good experience all the time I have said this. People give a smile and are more willing to help than usual.
