Let me start by saying WELCOME TO MYLOT!!! I know we have a lot of NEW members with a lot of questions. I've been here for a little over a year & I must admit that I do NOT know it all!!! However, I do remember when I first started & had a lot of unanswered questions. Not knowing many people yet, I found it difficult to get my questions answered.
So, I thought I'd start this group in order to help the new members find a place where they can get some assistance!!! If I don't know the answer, I will do my best to find the correct answer for you!!! I'm sure there are plenty other seasoned members here who would be willing to help you find the answer to your question. Rather than start a discussion asking the same question that was asked just a few weeks ago & you can't find the answer because you've not learned how to navigate the site yet, I'm hoping to keep almost ALL the questions in one location so all you need do is scan down the questions asked here. OK, my new friends, do you have any unanswered questions???

I wondered who the first jack azz would be. I should have known!!!!
With over 3,000 posts under your belt, you are NOT a newbie & definitely don't qualify Sparky!!!
Also, I only plan on answering SERIOUS myLot questions!!! Why is the sky blue is a question for a discussion NOT an answer here so I suggest you start a discussion & see who curses you out first!!!!

Thank you P1key. I do hope you'll be one of members who will check here often & respond to questions asked. I will do my level BEST to answer most of them by myself. I don't believe in just taking from myLot without giving something back!!! myLot is my second home & I firmly believe in the saying Do unto others...
Oh Sparky, I've been called a lot of things in my day, but I don't remember the word noble ever being one of them.
I do hope you will join Mr P1ke in popping in to answer a question every now & then...or at bare minimum be willing to respond to my emails when I run into a question I don't have an answer for!!!

Where were you 3 years ago when I came to myLot? lol I had no clue what I was doing and reading the guidelines didn't help me that much. I read many discussions before I actually participated in responses. Wasn't sure how to post a new discussion and didn't have the confidence to get started. I did wait 3 months after joining to actually respond to a member's discussion. I still don't understand the tasks but doubt I would that involved with them anyway. They seem rather time consuming. Nice of you to offer to help the new members.

I know how you feel. I did start responding to discussions by my 2nd or 3rd day. However, I didn't have the confidence to start a discussion for almost 2 weeks. I don't remember what the discussion was, but I'm sure it was boring. I met a few generous people who had a lot of GREAT friends & I was accepted warmly & kindly. I never posted a referral link as I didn't have one to post!!!
Then I began reading all these scathing discussions on how stupid the new members were because they kept posting the same boring discussions & how certain discussions were going to be deleted because they violated the Guidelines. I had never seen the Guidelines. So, I used my trump card & asked the friend who brought me into myLot how I could find the Guidelines & she graciously told me. I had never even noticed the tabs across the top of the page. I used every Friday night to read the Guidlines until I finally had them just about memorized!!! Then I began to notice that everybody interpreted the Guidelines differently. That confused the crap outta me!!! So, I went back & read them again with a new perspective. Then I decided the best thing for me to do was get my own perspective on the Guidelines. I figured if I was wrong, myLot would make it clear in time!!! Part of my frustration came in the fact that when I had a question, I would PM a new friend that had been here for a while & ask them the question. I seldom received a reply. I felt like how am I to follow the community expectations if I didn't know what they were. I learned the rules & worked diligently to follow them. Of course, every now & then I'd break a rule & have a discussion deleted. Sometimes I knew why. Other times, I felt I had been cheated!!! But I soon realized that Admin is God here & it didn't matter what I thought. So I developed the attitude that if I chill & spend my time enjoying myself, I can have a GREAT time here. I wouldn't give up ALL the WONDERFUL friends I've met here nor ALL the amazing facts that I've learned!!! Every so often something happens that reminds me of my early days & I think I want to help with that. Then a day or two goes by & I've done nothing. I don't know why, but yesterday it all came to a head & I decided it was the day to put my thoughts into actions. Some people prefer to go into a newbie's discussion & point out what they've done wrong & that is fine with me. I'm just trying to offer new members a place where they can join together & learn while doing it. I realize I still have a LOT to learn & I'm the first to say I don't know it ALL, but I figure I will learn from trying to help somebody new & it can be a win/win situation for both of us!!! I was lucky as one of our mutual friends did take pity on me & answered a lot of those elusive questions I had. For that I will be eternally grateful!!! myLot has been very good to me & I hope to return that by helping others find it to be a nice, comfy home for them!!! This is my attempt to pay it forward....And possibly meet a few more good friends!!!

I am not a newbie. I have been a member of MyLot for awhile. Sometimes I post alot. Other times not so much. Sometimes I reply to all who leave a comment on my discussion. Other times all I do is go to their discussion and comment back. I have been commenting alot more lately than making any discussions.

Well rusty, we ALL have to do what works best for us. Some days I just can't think of anything to say in order to start a discussion. Other days I find I have no decent reply to any discussion I check out. I have found my earnings grow faster when I have FUN & do NOT worry about my earnings!!! I've also found that posting a LOT doesn't make me any more in earnings than taking my time & posting a good, quality discussion or response. myLot has asked us to NOT TRY & FIGURE OUT HOW WE GET PAID. I've learned to do what feels natural & normal for me & let myLot do their job!!! If we don't concentrate on our earnings & worry about providing quality in what we do, the earnings will take care of themselves.
My prime objective here is to have FUN & ENJOY myself & make the earnings secondary!!! The friend who asked me to join used the "having fun" aspect as her selling point in order to get me to join. As sad as it might make some people, I'd stay even if we didn't get paid!!! ATTITUDE is EVERYTHING in myLot!!! Chill & enjoy is my attitude!!!

I've added the interest for this newbie help desk..
Loving it, loving it, Marissa..
I'm not too old, and none too young. So I have bits of questions to ask. How should we react when we are asked lewd questions? I don't mean rude, but I mean rude.. in every sense of the word..

Luckily, I read typo. Actually, i invented typo!!!
You know I'm a fun & playful person. However, there is NO room for lewd here in myLot so I usually remind them that it is an inappropriate topic of discussion in a family forum & suggest they go to an adult forum & re-ask their question. Of course, if it were you asking the question, I'd give you my email addy & tell you to take it up with me in private!!!!

This is a very good idea! I've been here a year and 4 months and I remember how it was first starting out--I wasn't referred by anyone and didn't know anyone here. Since I didn't know anyone, I automatically rejected male friends for fear that it might be a dating site in disguise!

Ain't Sparky crazy??? I think you started just before I did dragon. I've been here I think it's 1 year & 2 months. There was a large influx of newbies about the time I joined. I hadn't learned how to find things here & the TOS & Guidelines only gave me the rules NOT the how tos. All the newbie's were starting discussions asking how to do the same old thing over & over. The older members were constantly biitching that they were getting the same old questions over & over. Well, being a newbie, I thought how do I know it's the same old question as I've NOT seen it discussed anywhere. I got to where I feared asking anybody a how to question as I feared asking the same old question. I always wondered why there was NO Help Desk for the newbies so they didn't have to ask the same old questions. I also wondered why some old f@rt didn't set up a group for the newbies so they have one place to go for help. Unfortunately, I didn't have the experience myself to take on such a task & I kept putting off doing it. I'm still NOT sure I have the experience, but I do now have some knowledge. I musta been drunk to decide to take on such an undertaking, but I knew my dear loving friends here would be willing to help me with this task!!! I also saw a discussion where an established member was complaining about the newbies asking the same old question over & over so I decided today was my day to suck it up & volunteer my services to this most worthy cause!!! We do get a few PITA newbies, but all in all most are GREAT people who I hope learn the ropes early on & help us ALL earn more while here!!!1 person likes this

I have to admit when I first joined here some three years ago I felt a bit intimidated and wondering just what the heck MyLot was all about...but after awhile was able to get it as far as how this place worked.
I think it's really important that newbies read those guidelines--so many newbies start "money making" discussions and leave referral links...I'll point out to them that doing that is against the guidelines...if they are persistent though I do report them and some don't take the hint no matter how many times one tries to warn them.
I can't help thinking what might be a good idea....even though this is an English speaking site and one must reply to discussions or start discussions in English, if maybe the guidelines were posted in the language of the newbie who comes from a non-English speaking country as they might not understand the English language to understand it fully.
Okay sparks and I are still waiting for the answers to our questions.

Well Mel, I've never heard you complain about helping newbies. And I have seen you explain to them when they are wrong. When I signed up myLot made me read the Terms of Service but I was not shown the Guidelines. Once I got in, I was excited to get started doing what I was supposed to do...engage in discussions. I found myLot extremely exciting & was fortunate enough to meet some GREAT people!!! I was soooo busy the first few days, I didn't have time to search for & find the Guidelines!!! I was extremely busy engaging in discussions. Actually, it was almost a week before things slowed down enough for me to find time to search for the Guidelines. After that I read them at minimum once a week until I learned what NOT to do!!! I'm one of the few who didn't join myLot just for the money. I came here for the FUN!!! Rather than have various translations of the Guidelines, I suggest that myLot makes one of their steps to join be that new members have to read the Guidelines BEFORE being accepted as a member. I have a friend from Germany who uses his translator when confused with the English language. I don't let the here's my referral link discussions bother me as I don't plan on joining under them & I know the discussion will probably be deleted. On a slow day, I do go to those discussions & give them the link to the Guidelines & point out what rule was broken. I was attempting to have one spot a new member could come to ask the so called "dumb" question without irritating anyone. I'm the type that believes there is NO such think as a "dumb" question. I'm just finding it very interesting that NO newbies are asking questions & those who have been here for 2-4 years are monopolizing the discussion. So now, if a newbie does come here for information, they will have to wade through a bunch of crap to even find their answer & I know that ain't gonna happen!!!

Hi there lady marissa!
Have no fear! I, newbie, am here to FINALLY ASK A QUESTION. :3 Even though it's not a particularly good one. Well, I've been here for... let's say.. a day. And I've been posting. For fun, I checked my earnings and there's nothing there! It's already been 24hrs! WHY?!?!?! xD
Okay okay fine, truth is I haven't input the paypal data yet. Since I don't have one atm. but does this mean they're not going to tell me how much I earned?
