I kept getting lost! |
|
Yep. I spent most of the first day on board trying to find my friends. The passenger service on the ship does not give out cabin numbers so, brightness here, managed to lose the paper that gave the cabin numbers and phone numbers. Sixteen floors an d I was lost and 30O people on board. when I was hungry I ate with charming people and I was only found when I went back to my cabin to change and they had left a note on my door. Big sigh of relief.
I need to tell you that this is not a blond thing I have going. I have been getting lost all my life as I have no sense of direction.
It became embarrassingas when I was on shore people from the ship would come up to me and ask me if I was lost again! Newport, was good. In Boston I got lost and a kind man drove me back to the ship. Bar Harbor was one of the prettiest places that I have ever seen and I was almost lost as I got separated from my friends - but they found me. St. John's in Brunswick in Canada was incredible and I have to do a separate post about Halifax in Nova Scotia as I had an amazing experience. Oh yes, I got lost there too!
I would go into an elevator and people ask me if I was lost.It was a wonderful vacation but far too much food was eaten. Cholesterol heaven. We had a wonderful time and the places we visited were beyond the word beautiful. The people were so kind and friendly and I was so impressed with the cleanliness and the civic pride. So USA and Canada thank you for having me visit your beautiful countries. To make this a question. Do you have a good senses of direction or do you get lost easily?

cynthiann (3023) | 3 months ago | Let us shake on it.: cynthie shakes hands with Dawn.) Please let us meet on the next advdenture. I made a massive typo as there were 3000 people on boardthe Caribbean Princess - not 300. I'm pretty good with maps but he ship was as big as a city and they kept using words like port and aft and take the mid ship elevators. So confusing. I even took a couple of computer classes to learn file management. It really was wonderful and the people so gracious. I had been upgraded to a room with a balcony and it was amazing to sit out ther with a little pre dinner drinkie and watch the sea. I have made a major life change. Not into retirement at all. With my cardio problems I have decided that I might as well max out my credit card each year to see more of the world before I leave it. So, my sister is paying my fare to the U.K. next year and from there we will go to Rome with my eldest sister as well. She was 75 yesterday and when I called her yesterday to wish her a happy birthday she exclaimed: How the*^*# did I get to be this old? She had just come back from dinner in China town in London. It will be an intersting trip to look forward too.

cynthiann (3023) | 3 months ago | Oh I made lots of friends getting lost. In the end my friends would pick me up from my cabin at previously specified times. I am glad to have had that break but wa so shocked to see the hike in food prices since I returned. And 30,000 out of work. It is so worrisome as to how they will manage. The students at University whee my daughter is supposed to teach have dropped out as they do not have the money to pay the fees. Her hours have been cut to 3 teaching hours a week. That cannot pay her car payment. I am getting very anxious and praying hard about it all.God help us all. Many thanks and blessings

cynthiann (3023) | 3 months ago | You are so right. The people are partying not realising what has happened to us. I cannot believe the money charged for these events and they are always well dressed etc. I already have a small stock of supplies for emergencies and in my garden have potatoes, breadfruit and ackee trees, sugar cane, plantain and bananas. I also have peppermint and other herbs and seasonings, I am putting in lettuce and pepper seeds and callalloo too. My tomato crop has finished though.
I cannot get anything from the farm as the people are hungry and strip the trees of all fruit. even my pear trees have been stripped before the fruit was ready. I sent a message to the people to take what they want but they could leave a little for me to have. They know where to leave it so that it will reach me. To be honest, I am fearful about whatmay happen to us. I do remember the food riots in the seventies and early eighties. I will neve forget that. It is best to stock up on tinned food that will keep and especially detergent. I plan to buy my frits foir Christmas at theend of this month - ther is no guarantee that there wikl be any on the Island by Christmas. and if there is then the price will have doubled. God help us. Many blessings

3. lilybug (15248) | 3 months ago | I think I have a pretty good sense of direction. I do occasionally get turned around but I usually wander till I figure out where I am going.
It sounds like even with the getting lost a lot you had a really good trip. I am glad you had a good time. I finally got the package you sent me while you were gone. Thank you. I emailed you when I got it, but I am sure it is lost in the sea of emails you had waiting for you when you got back.

cynthiann (3023) | 3 months ago | Thank you. I enjoyed it so much as i did not rush around all day to see everything. We picked out what to do at breakfast each day and it was all leisurely. Lay down for an hour each afternoon befoe getting ready for the evening;s activities. So I did get plenty of rest as well as fun. I am not so stressed out now and hope to stay this way for a while, Take care dear friend.

5. cyrus123 (1641) | 3 months ago | Bless your heart! You really had a rough time getting lost, didn't you? It's understandable when you're in strange places. I'm glad you made it back home without any problems. Despite getting lost so much, it sounds like you had a good time, anyway.
The nearest big city to me is Birmingham and whenever I go there, I get lost a lot because there are so many one way streets over there. It can really mess a person up. I don't go over there very much these days because I don't have a very dependable car any more.
I went to college in Nashville, Tennessee back in the '70s and that town is very easy to get lost in! You can just take a certain turn and all of a sudden your in a different section of town!
Otherwise, I have a pretty good sense of direction. Kathy.

cynthiann (3023) | 3 months ago | I envy you for your good sense of direction. My family and friends are used to me getting lost - even my eldest GD asks all he time that I am driving if I know where I am going!!! It was a fantastic trip. American and Canada are so vast and beautiful. It was a fantastic experience and I also made some new friends on board. This Island is only 120 miles long and 46 miles wide and I get lost frequently! Blessings

cynthiann (3023) | 3 months ago | Nearly everyone knew me as, of all things, they videoed me dancing to some oldies and it was shown throughout the ship! Can you picture my embarrassment? so funny really. Very unlikely that I will see most of those people again!

8. 3SnuggleBunnies (3253) | 3 months ago | I don't usually get lost easily if at all. But I do get frustraited. The biggest city nearby had tons of one way streets and tons of traffic.... I had to take my DD1 down there for a field trip and I bout had a panic attack as there was so much construction that when I realized I went the wrong direction, every street was one way and taking me further away from where I needed to go and I was in tears on the phone to my hubby.

cynthiann (3023) | 3 months ago | Isn't that just horrible? Going the wrong way down a one way street. I have done that so many times that I've stopped counting. I will stop and take directions from any one. It has lked me into some funny and also embarrasing situations though. Blessings

cynthiann (3023) | 3 months ago | Thank you dear friend for your welcome message to me. I feel so honoured by your kind words. I did have a wonderful trip but also at one part it was quite emotional and I will post about it today if I get a chance. That part of the world - the coastline on the eastern side is so beautiful and the people so welcoming and kind. Many blessings
