Holiday Season Is Almost Here...

I'm ready to kick summer to the street, its just been too hot for words! Yeah, years zoom by really fast as you get older, I started noticing it in college and its really only gotten faster because each year is a lesser percentage of your life. I had one of the older men at mom's mention it, I think he was surprised I had not only noticed it but knew WHY it was happening - well, I guess that's because I think of these kinds of things being a science fiction fan...

You're not the only one--every year just goes by quicker than the one before...

I love the entire season--from fall all the way up to Christmas Day. I have fun with it and try to give my kids good memories...for halloween I turn my yard into a haunted graveyard and for Thanksgiving I make a huge meal from scratch and for Christmas I go crazy decorating and making fudge and listening to Christmas music...

I do agree that as I get older, time goes by faster. I was just noticing the other day, I carry a planner with me everywhere so i know where I am supposed to be and when. I have been noticing that I am constantly turning the page (new week). When I do, it seems I missed half of what was in there!
My favorite part of the holiday season is the family togetherness. I have a very close family.

We were just talking about this on Monday. I had a Labor Day picnic and I just can not believe that the summer is over. The leaves here in the Pocono Mountains, Pa are starting to turn, it is chilly during the day and at night it is getting colder.
I see the Halloween decorations and Thanksgiving decorations already in the stores. Like You I am not quite ready for this just yet,let alone Christmas being just around the corner. I have started holiday shopping through out the summer.
This year is just flying by and I am not even sure what I did. I guess we are just too busy to stop and enjoy some of the times along the way. We did a lot this year with buying a house and moving, went on a vacation in June and not much time to enjoy the summer. A little more than 3 months and we will be celebrating New Years.
They do say times flies when having fun, so I guess we all had some fun!:)

Holidays are a bummer to me. It just my mom and I now since my brother lost his battle with cancer just last year right before Christmas. we will not celebrate the holiday this year and we did not last year. yes I agree 2009 went very fast, seems like I just quit putting 2008 on correspondence. My favorite part of the holiday season is people seem to be in a better mood even in the grocery stores.

It's true, the older you get the faster time flies by. I remember thinking my 21st birthday would never get here. Once it did the years just kept going by faster, now at breakneck speed.

Since my circle of family/friends has gotten smaller it is not as hard to keep up with gifting so that part makes the holidays a bit easier. I try to pick up special things during the year and put them away for Christmas, already have two or three taken care of.

My favorite part of the holiday season is decorating the house.

This year has flown by. I think the summer really did. It didn't help that here the weather took forever to warm up to normal summer temperatures and then cooled right back down for fall. Plus my husband is doing repair work for his job 10 hrs away. He has been gone every other week all summer, so that made things go quick because we really couldn't do anything this summer and the weeks he was home went so fast. Its hard to believe the kids are back in school already and Thanksgiving is creeping up quickly. My favorite part of the holidays is getting together with family. It seems to be the only time we all have time to get together.

As we don't celebrate thanksgiving here in the UK I can't really say I am looking forward to it. Halloween was great here last year, it was quite a warm and dry day which is very unusual here. It always rains and is cold and not pleasant to go out trick or treating but last year it was perfect and the kids had a great time. I have my fingers crossed it will be nice again this year, if it is cold that is ok, we can cope with that but the rain as well is just miserable. I am really looking forward to Christmas as I do every year and have nearly got all my presents bought already!!
