We went to a Patriotic Music Concert tonight. It was presented by a local church here. They did a terrific job!!It was held at the fairgrounds and the grandstand was full. My son uses a wheelchair so we were right down in the front row.
They did a tribute to all military and service personnel. They had people from the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force and the Marines. The local Police, Sheriff, State Highway Patrol, Firemen, and Paramedics.
They had 2 big screens set up and showed clips of each at work! They did the 21 gun salute, and also shot off cannons! It was definitely a nice tribute, and a reminder to not take our freedom for granted.
My 16 year old son was really impressed with the whole thing. It really was a nice night for it too.
The church needs a big thumbs up!! It was put together very well. You would think they had done the concert over and over, but they hadn't. They did a great job and it was very well organized. Definitely a great way to spend the evening!

Man! ...I would have loved to have been there. Remember December 7, 1941? I don't think the young people today don't even know what happened then. Now, we go all out to celebrate(?) 9/11. It will be interesting to see how much celebration takes place on the 7th of December this year!
I've been watching the PBS series "Liberty, The American Revolution", it is a great documentary, it's too bad they can't take a little time through the school year to show this patriotic series.
Just and old soldier's opinion.

This was not a tribute to 9/11. That is what I liked. It started with coming to this country and on up. It was very nice.

Being prior Navy, Dec.7, 1941 is something we don't forget. The day when Japan attacked our Naval fleet at Pearl Harbor. Attacking us, when most of our sailors were either at church, or laying around enjoying a nice Sunday morning. Every year on this date, I sit and watch the history channel. I love hearing actual stories from the men that were on those ships during that fateful day. I wish something was done each year for the men and women that lost their lives on the USS Cole on Oct. 12th. Seems like they are forgotten.

Oh, that sounds so fun and sounds like you had a good evening out. Churches can do some really high class presentations, because they have passion about the materials.

That's wonderful to hear :-) It's nice to know that patriotism is alive and well. Glad to hear your son enjoyed it too. Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed that the smaller townships (at least out here) are the only ones who still do this kind of thing. The only way to raise a future patriotic generation is to show them that we adults value it, and that it's a good attribute. To have such a packed turn-out says a lot about how there are people who still care about this. Your post put a smile on my face this morning :-) We should never forget the men and women who served our country, and those who are serving now. Their selfless acts of courage to keep our country free should never, ever, be forgotten.

Many times more communities and Churches could benefit from doing more things like this, and good to hear of your church doing something like this as well. It is very important that people realize the type of things these men and women do for us in the name of Freedom, and we all need to show our respect and say many Prayers daily for them as well.

That sounds like a wonderful concert! Was it for 9/11 or 9/12 or just because this is a wonderful place to live? I'm glad every day that I live here, even with the troubles we are having right now.
