Do you know the difference? I think that most adults do.Do you teach your children the difference? I am a christian and I know many other christians and catholics that think about this the same way that I do.Show's and movie's such as Harry Potter,Halloweentown and Charmed are all based on good verses evil, using pretend powers. There is nothing on any of those show's that say that say anything against Jesus and christianity.
Look at cartoons, the animated characters on a lot of the cartoon shows and movies are always doing bizare actions that look the same as on these shows and movies.
I also know people that will not let their children watch these shows or movies. If they teach them the difference between pretend and reality,I do not see the problem.Yet,these same people let them watch shows like the Simpson's.
Do you agree with me? If not, why?

I remember when I was growing up a girl I went to school with was not allowed to watch the movie Aladdin because there was sorcery in the movie. She grew up in a strict Christian home where nothing that was anything like that was acceptable.

I think parents should monitor what their children watch, anything with witch craft in my opinion should not be shown to children, however we have no control over what others do with their children....I think children should be taught these things by their parents so that they are aware of evil but i see no reason to allow children to see it, we cannot always protect our children but we try..The Bible says to put no evil thing before your eyes, so if it is evil then i will do what the Bible says & protect my childrens eyes from seeing evil....

I personally don't have a problem with letting my daughter watch these movies or shows. I do not let her watch the simpsons or family guy though. I think that the content is more aimed towards adults. She is still young, but we tell her that things are pretend. Sort of like peter pan. Explaining to a child that it is a cartoon and that no one can actually just fly. I think if parents taught there kids properly about the differences between pretend and reality then watching such shows wouldn't be a problem.

Exactly.I never let my boys and still won't let my daughter watch The Simpsons or Family Guy.They are even stupid for adults,I think. But,yes there is a big difference between make believe and adult rated shows. What my point about that was, that some of the parents that won't let their kids watch Harry potter movies, will let them watch The Simpson's.What sense does that make?

hi dfollin shows like the simpsons remind me of when I was hospitalized in a rehab for my broken shoulder and forced to'
watch those blasted Simpson, ugh and ugh and ugh. I do think that'its most important to teach our kids the difference between pretence
'and reality and do it early.then watching various movies and television shows should not be any problem. but I would as a
young parent sort of monitor the things your kids do watch., I am widowed and elderly but I remember my own children and Idid sort'of monitor what they did watch.
