The noodles or the sauce? |
|
Well, we are being bad tonight and had some spaghetti.
The roomie and I were talking about how we like our pasta.
"Noodles as a mechanism to transport sauce" is the the roomie's take on spaghetti. Meaning more sauce to noodles ratio...
I'm of the opinion "Sauce to flavor the noodles" of course meaning just enough sauce to coat the noodles.
So, what is your take? More noodles than sauce or more sauce than noodles? White sauce or red?

and no Italian in either of us either
We were eating red sauce too, I love white sauce too, but neither are really on our diet, so we were being better by eating red...
Heck, anything with those noodles make me happy....

ElicBxn (15572) | 4 months ago | NOODLES!!! I knew we had a lot in common!!!
I like both, but I'm fussier about the reds, I find some too sweet others too spicy - I can always be happy with a white....

4. blackbriar (6355) | 4 months ago | I use my homemade sauce with ground beef and a little more than to coat the noodles cause I let it sit overnight so the noodles soak up some of the sauce, giving it even yummier flavor.

| |
|
|
ElicBxn (15572) | 4 months ago | well, I find you can't twirl the noodles if you leave them sitting too long, I'm definitely a noodle twirler...

ElicBxn (15572) | 4 months ago | lol - like we like the sauce with the spaghetti squash, but the roomie wanted NOODLES tonight
Gotta say - we ate a FRACTION of what we used to eat - I probably had about a cup and so did she, (we were only to have a third of a cup) but she used to put away WAY more than that and so did I (but not as much as she did)
just that I have meat trouble, since I'm allergic to so many that we look for things I can eat without meat...

Opal26 (10096) | 4 months ago | You guys need to sop it up with some nice Italian bread! That is the best! I could just eat some Italian bread or buttered rolls with sauce for dinner and be really happy! And I'm not even Italian!

I've lost 30 lbs, by NOT eating too many carbs for the last 4 months!

ElicBxn (15572) | 4 months ago | that IS bad! I've actually known people to eat the sauce on bread - but only AFTER the noodles are gone...
on the other hand, I'll eat cocktail sauce on crackers because I like the cocktail sauce so much...

Opal26 (10096) | 4 months ago | Hey mw and Elic! I didn't even see your response and I just said the same thing! I love to sop up the sauce with bread! I don't even need the pasta! And I make my own sauce and I'm not Italian! I was engaged to an Italian and I always made my own sauce from scratch! My Mom used to make alot of Italian dishes like Lasagna and Braciolle! I make them both too! And I am Hungarian on my mother's side and Russian on my father's side! I can really cook some incredible food!

jules67 (1935) | 4 months ago | Hi mentalward. There is nothing weird about it. I do love the pasta sauce. The more the better. It is nothing at all without the sauce. I want the sauce to be a little sweeter.

8. catdla1 (2759) | 4 months ago | When I have pasta, I prefer less sauce, just barely enough to coat. I'm not a fan of white sauce, unless I make it myself. Butter (or butter flavored oils) taste terrible to me, so if I make a white sauce it's with olive oil. My favorite is an alfredo with just a little tomato sauce mixed in...sort of a blush or cream tomato sauce.

|
jules67 (1935) | 4 months ago | Hi catdla. You have a different preference. You like less sauce while some like more sauce. Me, I really like lots of sauce in it. Have a great day.

ElicBxn (15572) | 4 months ago | me too, I do like white sauces, and I love butter, probably why I'm so fat... don't really like cream of tomato tho...

| 9. kylevinz (19) | 4 months ago | It's always depending on your taste.but noodles and spaghetti or any kind of pasta is not yummy without any sauce.try mixing or putting together the red and white sauce then bake it for about 30 mins in an oven and surely you will like them both:)

ElicBxn (15572) | 4 months ago | actually, I like to twirl my noodles, so I like the spaghetti noodles and baking it would ruin them ...
besides, baking it makes lasagna..

10. jules67 (1935) | 4 months ago | Hi ElicBxn. I love spaghetti. I can have it every day. Of course, pasta is not good without the sauce. I do not have any preference. A white or a red sauce will do. But I want more sauce than just coating the noodles. It tastes tastier if it has more of it. Thanks. Happy mylotting.

ElicBxn (15572) | 4 months ago | see, I want it just coating, otherwise its too over powering - but we aren't talking catsup sauce either, we're talking all those seasonings...
