Do you feel that the Monk writers learned how to write again this season?

I do. When Monk first came out, the writing was hip, inventive, and interesting. Something I hardly ever say about T.V. and writing because I happen to be of the opinion that people who write T.V. are only writing T.V. because no one will buy their book. The past couple of seasons, however, I have noticed a definite downgrading in the quality of the writing for the show. Now that it's the last season, the writing has returned to it's original high point. I hope that the writers of the show win an Emmy this year. What do you think?

I definitely noticed a difference this season so far. I've watched a lot of seasons and I agree that the last one especially left a lot to be desired. I bet you they were holding out on us because they knew they were ending the show soon and wanted to save all their best stuff! I loved the episode where he was up against that lawyer. It was funny how they poked fun at all the things he does and how he really can't "prove" anything but usually gets the person to confess anyway.
Will Monk finally find Trudy's killer? That would be a great series finale! I can't imagine they would leave that as a cliff hanger but you never know.
Do you plan to watch Little Monk (or whatever it's called)? I wasn't really interested but I have a feeling that if I just watched one episode I would be hooked. However, the actors on Monk are part of what makes it so enjoyable, so I have to wonder if kids will be as entertaining.

I think they plan on showing who Trudy's killer was. I think it may be someone we've seen before.

I'm not an avid watcher of Monk, but I've caught a couple of the earlier re-runs and I have to admit they're pretty good. Quite the quirky, offbeat show (but that's a good thing!). I haven't watched the new season yet, but I actually heard that it was down in ratings - and reviewers (at least from People magazine, which I obsessively read) didn't think as much of it. I think it got 2 1/2 stars. But what do they know anyway?
