How Much is Too Much to spend on Children's Shoes |
|
My 5 year old needed an extra pair of shoes for gym at school, so I went to Pay Less to see if I could find a cheap pair for him to keep at school for gym. Most of the kids shoes there were $24.99, I think that is really pricey for kids shoes when kids grow so quickly, I refused to pay that much, I didn't even want to pay $19.99 since these are shoes that will just be worn at school, but I might pay that for shoes he would wear all the time, but I still think that is pretty high. I found some on Clearance for $14.99 and go those.
So how much do you think is too much for a pair little of kids shoes?

2. dorannmwin (2115) | 3 months ago | My children's feet grow so quickly that I always think it is too much to pay more than ten dollars for a pair of shoes for them, especially the ones that they will wear on a regular basis. It is inevitable with my children that regardless of whether I spend ten dollars on a pair of shoes for them or I pay fifty dollars for a pair of shoes for them, within a month they will have either torn the shoes up or outgrown them. For me, I have found that the best way for me to go about shoes for the kids is to buy their shoes from Wal-Mart. They seem to hold up just as well and I don't end up investing nearly as much in them.

3. thyst07 (1068) | 3 months ago | You definitely don't want to pay a lot for shoes that you know your kid is going to outgrow soon. When I was a kid, I had to get new shoes every two weeks, no joke. But on the other hand, having proper support is important when kids' feet are developing. My younger years of cheap, low-quality shoes led to some foot development problems. I have very low, almost non-existent arches and over-pronation. This caused me to start having problems with my lower legs and knees early on. So you need to look for something inexpensive, but you should also keep in mind that the quality does matter- especially for the shoes your kid is going to be wearing all the time.

ladym33 (5478) | 3 months ago | Very true, I make sure that I do get good supportive shoes, but the cheaper shoes are nearly as good as the expensive ones these days and in some cases better. The expensive shoes are sometimes not expensive because of quality but because of the name brand or celebrity name attached to them.

5. Ricki911 (1309) | 3 months ago | Oh My! 24.99$ for a pair of shoes especially for a 5 yr old. Kids grow so fast and within months they outgrow everything. I remember while growing up we use to have hand me downs. All of us sibling and even my cousins would share clothing or if one grew out of them it would be passed down to the next. I remember thinking it was normal to wear Batman p.js LOL Until I went to Girl Guide camp and everyone had pink frilly p.js hen I had Batman and Superman LOL. But for me and being really frugal 24.99$ and even 14.99$ is a little much since I would know my child would grow out of it in a month or so - basically a waste. I would try to shop at second hand stores or thrift stores - they tend to sell cheaper and since the child wont get long use out of them. Also, have you tried Zellers or WM they tend to have kids shoes on clearance a lot of times. Also, they will mark down shoes that have a little rip or ao on. Ive seen shoes on clearance for 75% off - got them for 3.00$ because one had a little rip near the end of the shoe.

6. ibuemma (1226) | 3 months ago | My daughter grows like half size bigger every six month. Sometimes I just try to buy them shoes from walmart, and it seem they also last for 6 month...PERFECT!! mostly in walmart only cause about 10 bucks. When they feet stop growing I will buy them the little bit more expensive than 10 bucks.

| 7. blueberry2008 (24) | 3 months ago | I agree that you should pay as little as possible for childrens shoes. However a child foot develops so quickly over the first few years so you need to ensure that the correct support is being provided for your childs foot. I am speaking from experience. When I was younger I wore every sort of a shoe. As a result by the age of 8 I had to wear special shoes because due to cheaper shoes I was wearing my ankles had not been correctly supported therefore I started to walk with my feet turned in. As a result my mum had to buy expensive shoes which had a bar inside the leather which support the inner side of my foot. i had to wear these for 2 years until my foot had straightened. Just ensure that when you are buying shoes for your son that you ensure that they will provide enough support.

8. muscles4me (8811) | 3 months ago | I agree that 24.99 is much too high for shoes for a child. A pair of shoes will last me a year and that is wering them everyday and even I do not like paying more than $39.99. Do you have a Shoe Carnival near? Sometimes they are good at having discontinued styles on sale.

| 9. gohigh00 (61) | 3 months ago | Yes, I have the same feeling that kid's shoes are too expensive. And children grow so fast!
But nowadays, there are so many commnent about the shoes of kids. It's said that shoes are more important than their dress. If they don't have the right shoes, maybe they will grow a habit of not walking rightly.Or even influence the funtion of other body part. These kind of things are always told by the doctor on the net.
However, I don't believe so much about above views, Most of the kid's shoes, except really bad and cheap one, are all right for most of the kids. The comment menitoned above are just an kind of potential advertisement for better sales of the kid's shoes shop.
Yes, I agree with someone here. I've bought some shoes from Walmart, and the quality's really ok for me. So I believe, kid shoes from walmart are also oK,no problem.

10. prinzcy (2166) | 3 months ago | I can still spend up to 30 for a pair of children shoes. It's true that kids grow too fast, sometimes they can only wear clothes up to 3 - 4 times only. But shoes are different. They'll be wearing it often. Besides, I feel sorry for my younger siblings when they're just oggling the shoes but doesn't dare to ask me to buy it. Even for gym shoes, I may spend to 50. But that just that. I won't spend more than that.
