Taxes

Many people have different opinions of taxes, and what they are used for. I have heard people talking about a possible 50% tax rate for the richest people in the country who live in New York City. Some have talked about a flat tax, and even some have talked about getting rid of income tax, and going with a consumption tax. It is a fact that many of the super rich have always found ways out of paying taxes, through havens, off shore accounts, and even fraud.
The question I have is if all of these super rich people are cheating the system right now, won't they just find another way to cheat the new system?

You betcha!! That's why the rich get richer and the regular folk like us keep struggling along. Their tax accountants and lawyers will find ways around anything new the government comes up with.

I agree with you 100%, it is so funny to hear republicans bash lawyers, unless they saving them, or making them money.

Yes they will, I just hope their method isn't moving money and industry out of the state/country. I do not believe it is fair for the rich to pay a greater percentage of tax than anyone else. They earned their money (or inherited it) either way it's theirs. A support a flat 10% tax. Everyone pays the same regardless of how much or little you make.

Wlee, I understand how you feel about taxes. The problem is that if they are evading taxes when they are 50%, then they will find a way to evade them when they are 10%. I understand that people believe that the rich pay the more than their fair share in taxes, but that doesn't give them the right to break the law. I agree with a flat tax, but I don't think you will ever see it in this country. That is not because it would be fair, I think it wouldn't matter in the end. The rich will always find ways to secure their wealth and power, and try to keep the reset of the country right where they are at.
