Do you hate it when people watch you? |
|
Does it bother you when you're trying to work and someone stands there watching you? It drives me crazy! If I'm trying to type or something like that I keep messing up since I'm not used to having an 'audience'. I don't know why someone would want to stand there and watch someone else work but I've noticed a few people who do it and it absolutely makes we want to scream.
Have you experienced this? Does it bug you when someone silently watches you while you're trying to do something? Do you say something or just seethe like I do?

Usually I just seethe. I think saying something would be more effective though!

jesssp (1242) | 3 months ago | Yes, definitely more effective. But since I'm kind of a sissy and I have to work with there people every day the most I ever do is get up and leave, returning once they've moved on.

2. highflyingxangel (8990) | 3 months ago | I get super bothered whenever someone stands behind me while I'm on the computer. That makes me feel like I'm not trusted and I hate having an audience behind me while online. It's not like I'm doing anything 'bad' it just really bugs me. It makes me feel pretty uncomfortable because I know they're fishing for information or something and it's not like I have anything important enough to share with them so I wish they'd let up a little bit.

jesssp (1242) | 3 months ago | Have you ever seen those little rear view mirror things for computers? I have really considered getting one for work, there's nothing worse than Mylotting away or playing a silly game and turning around to see your boss watching over your shoulder!

3. Trensue (1259) | 3 months ago | Sometimes I feel like you are standing in my office! I just kicked out family members for doing exactly what you were talking about. I really don't know what they needed but they could put their head in and know that when I had minute I would respond. Which is what I have to go do now. Yes, I am going to say something.

|
|
jesssp (1242) | 3 months ago | LOL! Some people are just so not perceptive at all when it comes to other people. I would never think to stand and watch someone like that, but I guess that's because I know how much it bothers me.

5. Hatley (21025) | 3 months ago | hi jesssp how would you like to have a person follow you around the room while you were doing your job? When I was paging books in the library some idiot came in and wanted to talk about some book and he followed me up and down the aisles as I shelved books' until I could no longer take it. I asked him pointedly if he had something he wanted to ask me. oh my, then I saw when he raised his arm that he was wearing a shoulder holster with gun under his jacket. He told me he wantedto know if I had seen these two young gang members in the library that d ay. he showed me two pictures and yes, they had been in but harrassed a patron so our brancher manager had called the police who came and kicked them out but did not arrest them. seemsthis man who followed me was from the drug part of the police department. but why could he not have just spoke to me at once? odd that.

jesssp (1242) | 3 months ago | That's crazy! Why on earth would someone do that? That would just scare the crap out of me, as soon as I saw that gun I would probably throw up all over the guy's shoes!

6. kitty42 (1165) | 3 months ago | Hello my friend
Personally if it is not a supervisor or someone I am training, I would say can you please not look over my shoulder its distracting, if I can help you with anything let me know, if not let me get back to my work so I can have it done, thanks no offense but you understand that is exactly what I would say, I don't do this kind of work so I don't have the problem you are facing, in my field talking with others makes thing easy for me,considering I am actually working with my patients guess I am use to it.
Hope this helps my friend, nothing like being uncomfortable at your work place, I would put a stop to it, in a really nice way, they should understand.
Thank you.

jesssp (1242) | 3 months ago | The thing is it's usually a person who is bored and wants to visit, but they really have nothing to say. Sometimes I'll keep a conversation up for a while but if I'm done visiting, have nothing to say or am genuinely busy it should just be common sense for the other person to walk away. I think it would be awkward to have to tell them to go on their way!

7. sredith (142) | 3 months ago | I had a friend who was ALWAYS watching me do my makeup whenever she came to my house and I had to get ready to go somewhere. It wasn't just like she was looking for a second, she would stare the whole entire time like she was taking mental notes or something. Drove me crazy!

jesssp (1242) | 3 months ago | When we were little we would do that to my mom and she HATED it. I think we only did it because chances were if she was putting makeup on we were getting ready to go somewhere and we were impatient. We never understood why it bugged her so much - needless to say I get it now!

8. katsmeow1213 (4890) | 3 months ago | Yes I hate it too. Of course I don't go out and work so I don't experience it too often, but it does bug me when my husband does it. He'll come in the room to talk to me and he'll stand directly behind me and watch whatever is going on on my screen. No matter what I'm doing it just makes me feel all strange and I yell at him to stop, or I'll minimize the screens until he leaves. He knows how much I hate it so he tries not to do it as much, but sometimes he forgets until he sees the look on my face as I'm minimizing my screens.

jesssp (1242) | 3 months ago | It doesn't matter what I'm doing, I don't like to be watched if I'm concentrating on something. I'm with ya on the computer thing too. It's not like I'm doing anything 'bad' on there, I just hate the feeling of being watched and what I'm doing being analyzed.

10. JennyMarie (224) | 3 months ago | I hate when people watch me work. I really hate it when people read over my shoulder or she they watch me type something. My boss does this as he is dictating a letter for me to type. He says it helps him keep track of what he is saying. I think he just wants to watch what I am doing and help me catch my mistakes.
I told him I make more mistakes when he is watching. I told him I will let him read it before I hit send

| iceman8490 (5) | 3 months ago | That is like a pain in the neck . It makes of fell as though they are waiting for of to make mistakes so that they can get on my nerve. Mostly when people stare when i am working i stare at them back, they leave as soon enough . But most of the time i ask them whether they need any thing and they just buzz off.
