in a desperate and probably futile attempt to con more people into a very underpopulated interest i have decided to go with the ever popular favourite type discussion. so what is your favourite fish - in the abstract, to eat or as a pet -? think i'd probably go with sharks simply because they are slightly brighter than most of the others and sort of graceful in a scary way. then seahorse cos they are cute. ickle seaponies

Wow, this is indeed sad jud, just when I thought you had hit the bottom of the barrel, you found a whole other barrel under it. I guess i can understand, after all, that god forsaken island you trap yourself on has you down to this, proabably sitting there with a tantlizing plate of poached whiting as we speak. he he, mornin'

Are you sure that the word fish means bones? Never heard that one before. Well as I have permission to go with shells my favourite fish is lobster, preferably one without acid seepage into its shell. I prefer the small ones to the big ones as they are easier to get into the pan.

Let's just say we usually use a BGH as you know it to open the shell and have also been known to use pliers on the claws in a public place.

Welll...I dont eat FISH so I will talk about my favorite pet and wild fish :D lol My favorite pet fish to own are Beta fish. They are the easiest to take care of and very beautiful. AND believe it or not, they have personalities too! At least my 2 beta's do! lol. Their names are Frankie and Boomer The only thing I would change about Beta's if I could would be that they could live peacefully together...I wish I didn't have to keep my two in seperate tanks! I like my pets to have friends lol. My favorite wild fish....hmm....well I guess this isn't really a fish....but close enough. I would say that I really like Nurse Sharks...I am not a shark fan, they scare me. But nurse sharks are non-aggressive and I've actually heard them referred to as friendly. I think they are one of the few sharks I would swim with.

I really like fish and have always been interested in having them. I have swam with sharks before...but they were in an enclosed area (not the ocean)...there were two of them, I'm not sure what kind they were. But that when I was younger, and I was pretty much hanging on my moms shoulders! lol Now that I'm older and know a lot more, I think nurse sharks are the only one I'd consider getting into water with...i wouldn't even get into one of those shark cages with any large sharks (like great whites) around--no way! lol

fish are not quite as dense as people think they are. even goldfish for example do have memories. nurse sharks are harmless - and most sharks are a bit more intelligent than your average fishy so might be interesting to swim with.

Salmon is my all time favorite fish! Beautiful fish and delicious to eat. Good for us too with Omega 3 oil in it. Then comes trout. Good eating here too. Then cat fish. Cute buggers and some get huge. I live in a state where you can go into the mountains and catch the first two and I think in some areas you can catch the third as well. Lucky me! Nana!

Hello Jb. Hm, now this may take some time. I do love my tuna salad sandwiches and tuna casseroles. It's not so bad when you buy it all ground up in a can, for then you cannot see the lovely living thing that once swam merrily about the sea that one is now about to devour! Which brings me to the next point. When all is said and done, I far prefer "watching" the grace of various fishies rather than eating them, anyway. We have a zoo nearby that houses a large aquarium. I could easily stand and watch the various life forms in the tanks for hours! A cat fish gets huge...and I find its whiskers fascinating! The sharks look quite evil, but they are also fascinating. I've seen the salmon "running" upstream to spawn, and that enthralled me...so many of them working so hard to procreate and then die! Ack! My favorite tropical fish, most of whose names I do not know, come in such beautiful shapes and colors. I truly love the grace and beauty of the angel fish, so aptly named. "Over and out." Karen

i love watching fishes - can be enthralling. now karen - i was going to try and put up an angel fish photo for you and a rather different one for me. however for some reason mylot wouldn't accept the angel fish so i'm afraid you are stuck with the one that refers to some people in politics. possibly myself included.

Sharks are interesting even though they do not have a bone in their bodies. I would have to say that my favorite fish is a wild fish that is healthy and not in danger of becoming extinct. That goes for all animals. By the way, I have 13 aquariums running in my house with fresh water animals in them.

that is a lot of work sharks have cartilidge instead of bones - provides internal support like bones do.

well dolphins are not fish - don't really think they should be kept in captivity but they are great to see in the wild.

I would say the shark too. But don't know if it is considered a fish. lol. They sure are scary looking. I do like the tropical fish like the clown fish. The tropical fishes are really colorful and cute. Seahorses are pretty small and cute too. I don't have any fish as pets though but like to see them swim around when I am visiting the local aquarium.
