"Shyness" does it affect your life, how did you get over it, |
|
Some might see it as weird to be grown and yet be shy. Sometimes being shy affects relationships or holds you back when you really want to do something or in the case of relationships it might prevent you from opening up, is there something that cause shyness in a person, can a person get over it if they can how do you think they could, any ideas.

I was afraid of my own shadow. It was not until high school that I was able to overcome this. A 9th grade English class introduced me to speech. We had to make up speeches and recite them in front of the class. It gave me the confidence in myself that I had been missing.

2. jillhill (11620) | 2 months ago | I have been shy most of my life....in certain area's. It's hard for me to meet new people but once I have gotten to know them then the shyness disappears. If there is something that I am pretty knowledgable about then I am not shy....just depends on the situation. I think as your self esteem grows the shyness can go away.

3. tingtong (1068) | 2 months ago | I was very shy, till i got old..even had an inferiority complex, would not show my face to anyone..that affected my life, my studies..actually noone encouraged me to come out & face the world..but somehow i myself found the confidence when i became a mother..I think lack of confidence make one shy..we have to believe that we r not inferior to anyone, & we ourselves is special as an individual....

5. ChaoticBeauty (202) | 2 months ago | Hi there and good morning Sherka,
In my high school years and the couple of years following, I was an extremely introverted shy guy...too embarrassed and shy to even ask a girl out, when I knew she liked me! Yeah, I was shy. Then I joined the navy. I'm not saying the navy is in any way a cure for shyness, but just having the chance to get a fresh start somewhere and be a new different person gave me the resolve to show them I was a leader, not shy, and could really make a difference. I can tell you that I'm no longer afraid to talk to girls anymore!:) But seriously, it has given me a self confidence that I would have otherwise not known... Get a fresh start. Determine in your mind that you WILL be different, and exercise your willpower to make yourself change. That's what worked for me...
Hope you have a great day!

| 7. riverblue (84) | 2 months ago | At school,I was very very shy.During class when the teacher asks any questions or during any discussions I will sit there speechless. Most of the time I knew the answer, but the words wont come, and my heart will be beating so fast. Also when other kids are playing I try to avoid joining. All this changed when a new teacher came. She was very kind and when she was giving out the term exam papers she asked me to read out one of the essays I had written because it was the best. She encouraged me to overcome the shyness. When I went to college, all my shyness was gone.Thank you for the discussion-it brought back so many memories. ,

10. hwoarangpoy (101) | 2 months ago | Try working for a call center industry. (Just kidding) I used to be shy. I used to think I was ugly. I may be smart according to friends but I am no Ms. Popularity. I tend to shy away especially when I am in front of a guy. I basically do not know why but when I started working I began loving myself. I guess being congested with energetic people made my shyness go away. The next thing I knew I was out enjoying life. And I did not have to change my face.
