Faster, tidy, spell checker constant help, access to virtual dictionaries... you name it.
If I'll have one thing for the "Pen" though is that I can use it anywhere. I'm most of the time carrying around a notebook with me and when I suddenly get an idea on my mind I can just start writing down those ideas. Furthermore, if rather than a simple "one-line idea" it becomes a whole, complex web then I can just draw out my ideas, whereas on the computer (Which you can't carry as easily) you'd have to resort to a program that's not intended from base to writing and it becomes difficult to keep that mix of writing and drawing tidy.
But when it comes to put that idea down to paper (ironically, virtual paper, after the idea was sketched on real sheets) I prefer to have a keyboard in hand because I can write so much faster and have the benefits I already mentioned before. It's just so convenient to be allowed to change a given phrase N number of times without having to grab a new sheet so that things are still legible in the end. It's also incredibly useful to have a spell checker constantly glancing over your more common mistakes (even though it can be a two-edged sword) and instant access to several dictionaries, which is always helpful when writing and specially when you are writing something in a language other than your primary one.
So... writing to seize the spontaneousness of ideas, typing to accomplish the long work.

6. charlies2805 (589) | 2 months ago | It depends on the circumstance. When I was in the class, even if I had one mini laptop, I would prefer writing on a paper to typing on a computer, as it was simpler that way that time. But daily, I prefer writing on computer because I've been using computer for the half of my life now and I can type very very fast, just like everybody does. I choose typing on computer just because it is simpler to do so, and I don't have to carry a lot of written papers and no need to tidy it properly.=)

9. missliss08 (172) | 2 months ago | I never really thought about it, but I guess I would have to say the computer. I know I would rather read others handwriting in the typing world LOL. I do think though that handwriting should still be encouraged, and not let go, as far as education goes.

10. dorannmwin (1741) | 2 months ago | I am probably one of the oddballs in today's society when it comes to this question. I much prefer to write on the old dependable paper and then when it is time to make revisions to whatever I've been writing, then I move the work over to the computer at that point. I started this habit many years ago when I was in college and it seems to be a habit that I've never been able to break. Now, as far as forum posting and stuff like that, those are usually stream of consciousness so they aren't really thought out and take place exclusively on the computer.
