hi kitty I think they were patrolling this area as it really was not all that safe to be walking alone at night. I once almost
got knife doing my laundry in one of those all night laundromats
and this young punk comes in. He demands I give him all my money and when I refused he pulled out a knife. being so naive I just stepped hard on his feet. He dropped the knife and was hopping all over just howling when one of the patrol officers came in and whenItold him the kid had tried to hold me up, he arrested him. and admonished me to not be in that area all alone at night. well that was back when I was a naive little kid of twenty. now I have some wisdom in myold age.

hi sid my husband was stopped one time by a security guard when we were trying to get back into our own apartment.it took a bit of talking to convince him we did live there. our dog barking at the window helped a bit too.

Thats funny. I've locked myself out of my apartment enough times that I'm very surprised that I was never questioned.

hi sid this guard was new and it was one of those locked gate things too. seems they had had a bad time in earlier years as they got some gang members who rented apts. and gave them a
really bad time.

hi fjaril oh yes I am sure they would, it was a much more innocent time then, now I was really scared one night I went to deposit my paycheck at my readiteller and there were three gangster looking rough looking men standing watching me. so I
went back over to burger king and called my son. he met me and we waited til these guys finally left, then I did deposit mycheck. I was really scared.

dear Hatley.. lots of people try to calm those kinds of feelings, but I say, if you have managed to master life this far, you have pretty darn good instincts and judgement. Go with your gut feeling, I say! Stay this smart and keep playing it safe, my friend!

yes as I am elderly and cannot always use my son for help,I have learned to be prudent, he always helped when we were together in our last apartment. now he always says do not go out alone,and I really don't.

Very smart. You know, I say the same to my wife. and even I sometimes don't feel especially comfortable myself if I am in an isolated area late in the evening.. no.. like you say. one must learn to be prudent, as you obviously already are. and probably have been for a long time, if not always!

hi fjaril I am doing fine, mylotting in spite of the remnants of a back ache. take enough ibuprofin you can stop the pain. so am great now. sun is shining and the birds are singing too.

hi geminikid yes indeed I never made that error again, and I did also try to find a friend to walk with me late at night as it was really much safer even then.

oh tamarafireheart dont worry as that happened many years ago now at my age I do not go out at night without a friend or my
son along. I have a badleg and if I was accosted I really don't
know if I could hold my own. oh maybe if I clobbered my assailant with my quad cane, hadnt thought of that. lol lol

and I was so scared, but maybe my standing there shaking
might have convinced them that I was just a naive young
woman and not a crook. Now days I would never walk alone
