This year has been difficult for us in that we did end up in the situation that we didn't have money to pay all of the bills a couple of months. I went to my mother for help and she was more than generous in helping us when she could. I felt so stupid and so down about the fact that I'd screwed up so bad with our budget. However, we'd lost my small income and my husband had also lost all of his overtime pay at that time. We have finally enrolled in a debt management plan that is slated to get us out of credit card debt within three and a half years and this first month on it has been a struggle for us, but I know that things are going to get a lot better and we will be able to pay back all of our debts.

I have been desperate before but I've rarely borrowed money. A few years ago I had to borrow from a friend in order to feed my children during my divorce because it is a very costly procedure! I paid her back almost immediately by borrowing from my mother then paid my mom back over a six month period.

I never borrow unless my sons are in trouble, as in that situation. I don't plan to borrow from friends or family ever again, I'll live in a tent in the woods first!

Since bills(electric,water,internet,phone)are usual bills that we were expecting every month,i always had that on my top list.
I am thankful that,i never been into much trouble with paying my bills.
There was a time that i also been down with financial matters,but,i never went through the lowest status.
I always tried to find solution when it comes to financial.
I can't imagine my kids crying becoz of hunger,nor seeing my house in darkness due to electric cut off.

Earning money is not a problem,unless we are too lazy to work for it.
There are many ways of earning money legally and in decent ways.
Borrowing money or loans are fine...but,i always avoided doing so.
I would rather ask help from my mom,who is always very supportive and generous of helping us in times of trouble...and money is not an exemption.

I would see if we have enough in savings and if we don't then I would borrow, but I wouldn't borrow without the intention of paying the person back. I would also try to earn more here on mylot to help a little bit with either paying the bills, or paying the person back. We hope that mylot will become our "savings" and "buy things we don't need" fund and our regular paychecks to be our "bills" etc fund.

hi jugsjugs I guess if push come to shove, but first I would try other ways to make money, and not just do nothing, I hate to borrow from anyone. That is why I love mylot as I can make enough here to at least cover four fifths if not all of my internet bill plus I love mylotting and mylot friends also, and the sharing and caring between us all,it is worth more than just the money, I enjoy being here and learning from every one too. I get social security and ssi checks and most of it goes to pay my rent and board here,so I have about one hundred twenty five dollars of my own left so the thirty dollars adds to that and I keep up on my few bills. I pay as soon as the bills arrive so I do not have anything hanging unpaid.

i'd ring the company and explain the situation,they are normally quite understanding and will give you a bit extra time to pay it,if they won't then i ask my mum to lend me the money

How are you today?
I have been in that position to where I was able to pay the bills but didnt have enough left over to buy groceries and gas for the car. We went to my husbands mom and asked to borrow some money to get us thru the next two weeks. This was during the time that hubby was laid off. Now that he has gone back to work, I have included his mom in on the bills to be paid. We almost have her paid in full.

as much as possible i will never borrow money to anyone so if i were in that situation i would try to work even a bit just to pay those bills. i know they won't be gone and the more i wait, the more they add up and the more it's difficult to pay. i know one friend that always have overdue bills and adds up until 3 months and even being disconnected..sigh. i think the interest added each month for 3months is enough to pay another month. so it's better to pay the bills on time.
I can't understand why people tend to spend more than they can earn. some prioritize buying unnecessary items like clothes and cosmetics to think that they are starving.

There have been many times when I could not pay the bills, but I have always been able to shuffle things around so that we could eat and have heat in the house. I have often borrowed money from a bank but pay this back as soon as possible and by sheer luck between Hubby and me one of us has always had a job. I have worked professionally with families that were not as lucky as us and have even personally helped out when I could. Sure I have lost money this way but I have never worried to much about that and only been glad to help. This is an old family tradition, my Mom use to bring young people home with her when they didn't have enough to feed themselves until the next pay day, We always had plenty of canned food like beans to add to the dinners to make them stretch. I guess this comes from going through the big depression.
