Our parents lied! Snow isn't white, water isn't blue, Santa doesn't exist! |
|
I was wondering why are we told so much lies when we were little children? Aren't we all told that you shouldn't lie? Why did our parents and people around us lie about these subjects and be hypocrite?

1. Hatley (20707) | 1 month ago | hi diamania well if you think snow is not white you have never been in South Dakota in a snow storm, oh yes it is white, maybe in the city it gets dirty but out in the prairie states the snow is definitely white. and the pacific ocean water is blue, but no There is no Santa just people with the 'christmas spirit. as for lying to our kids we are just passing down the crap we were handed for decades, why I do not know. I do not think our parents were really hypocrites as in the country the white snow that comes down is white and a lot of water does look blue. as for the Santa Claus thing thats been handed down for many generations.

All the hopes and dreams of "happily ever after" that you read in the story books is definitely not reality. It is getting more and more difficult to let children be happy and innocent. Just look at the evening news and you will feel that there is no "good news" in the world, just war, bad economy, murder and mayhem.
I think this is why parents continue to let their children believe in Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, etc. These are fantasies that do bring joy and happiness to little ones before they have to face reality. They are basically harmless, in my opinion, and add a little extra joy to the holidays. The look on a child's face when Santa has arrived is so precious. You don't get to savor those moments for very long and it is as joyful for the parent as it is for the child.
Some water is blue and after all the inches of snow I shoveled the last two winters in the Midwest, believe me it is white! LOL

3. saundyl (4294) | 1 month ago | Water does look blue...sometimes it looks muddy..it depends on where you are the weather and the conditions IN the water like pollutants.
Snow unless its dirty sure looks white to me.
And honestly Santa may not be "real" in the sense that he physically exists but Santa can also be viewed as the spirit of giving...

4. Trensue (1251) | 1 month ago | What on earth are you talking about? I made a snowman yesterday and even if he is not white he looks white. The lake right by my houses looks blue today. Santa Claus for me is my Dad and if you don't believe me why don't you ask him. How dare you say that we were lied to as little children!!! We are given love and hope and gifts. Call it what you want - but I believe.

5. sudiptacallingu (7136) | 1 month ago | Then why have fairy tales at all? I don’t think our parents lied, they just told us the way we would understand certain things. And childhood is the time of dreams and fantasies…everybody knows that once we are adults, we all will come to know that Santa does not exist but children love to have Santa in their lives and so why not? Regarding the colour of water…well water itself is colourless but in oceans and seas and other vast water bodies, the water looks blue and to a child that is the colour of water…a child cannot understand the physics behind it. Similarly I thnk for snow. We later came to know the actually physical reasons behind why water or the sky looks predominantly blue. A child will never understand that so parents have to make do with their level of understanding. I don’t consider that as lying.

6. jillhill (11655) | 1 month ago | I feel for you if you think your parents lied....really...when you read a book of ficton....do you think someone lied to you? Santa is really a fairy tale that comes true. I don't know anyone who has been personally hurt when they found out and it didn't distroy their lives! I told my kids that as long as they believed he would still come.....they are all grown up now...and if they are home for Christmas their stockings still get filled by Santa....and they love it! BTW...in Minnesota snow is white....water in the lakes is blue....and there is a Santa forever in our hearts!
