1. lovinangelsinstead21 (335) | 1 month ago | Hi shontia,
Actually although I don´t believe in Santa Claus as such I still like to watch Christmas Films and secretly believe that he does exist all over again. Ages ago when I was about six or seven I knew there was no real Father Christmas but I still liked to play and pretend that there was one what kid does´nt. So now the little kid in me comes out to play every Christmas and on my own I can believe that Santa Claus does exist again. I never told my kids they like me found out for themselves. Here we have Santa Claus and the Three Kings (The Three Wisemen) so it makes Christmas very long but even so I like it. No I did´nt get upset at all when I did get to know I just carried on pretending when I wanted to. I love Christmas maybe others don´t but it´s my favourite time of the year in spite of everything.

shontia08 (381) | 1 month ago | christmas is my favorite time of the year too. i can't remember my exact age when i first learned that "santa" was really my mother and father. i am glad that they choose to make us believe in santa when we were young, because it made the wait for christmas day that much more fun. we use to leave cookies and milk for him. other kids at my school told me that santa wasn't real. that following christmas just wasn't the same, i was still happy because i got everything that i wanted, but it was still kind of hard finding out that he wasn't real. it wasn't hard as in i was depress or anything, things just was different. thanks for sharing with us. thanks for replying.

lovinangelsinstead21 (335) | 1 month ago | Hi shontia,
It is really hard to find out something like that when you are small bit like the tooth fairy I suppose. When we used to have Carol Singers around the Houses late at night and because you were small you were already tucked up in bed just listening to them singing made it like magic and it was magic because I wanted to believe that it was so. No one can take that away from you ever.

2. Brad2289 (141) | 1 month ago | I dont really remember when i officially found out there was no santa. When i was around 5 i started to have suspicions and i kept asking my parents if he was real or not and htye would always say yes. One day they eventually came out and were like yeah, theres no santa.

shontia08 (381) | 1 month ago | when i told my parents what other kids said about santa not being real, they told me that he was. eventually it camed out and it was confirmed. i think my parents use to miss the times when i thought he was real, because they would stay up until the kids went to sleep and then place the gifts under the tree, they use to say that, that was one of the fun parts about christmas. i didn't talk that much about it because i had 3 younger siblings. now that we are grown, my parents enjoy telling stories about meeting santa, and helping us play santa with our kids. thanks for sharing and for responding to this discussion. have a nice day.

shontia08 (381) | 1 month ago | i am sure your parents did a great job. one thing i liked was on christmas eve night my mother would help me and my brothers and sisters draw pictures to leave out for santa with the milk and cookies. the next day the glass would be half empty and we would see crumps left in the plate. our mother would tell us how excited santa was over the pictures and the treats we left him. that made our christmas special too. i also remember when i was around 3 and 4 and i would look up in the sky at night and see the red light from a plane and think that it was rudolph. lol. i use to wonder why he passed our house and didn't stop and my dad would tell us that he was coming to our house but we had to go to sleep first. i am now doing some of the same things with my kids and i hope they carry on the tradition when they have kids. thanks for sharing with us and for responding.

| 5. rocketseance (45) | 1 month ago | Pretty early. I don't even remember that we actually fostered the Santa thought here from where I came from. We know who our gifts are coming from and we don't get judged for being naughty or nice. We also do not have chimneys and we realized it's improbable that he tries to go through the drainpipe.
Yeah, we know about Santa, but we really did not dig into it. But I still believe in the Tooth Fairy...not!

shontia08 (381) | 1 month ago | aww, sorry you had to find out that way. starting this discussion has brought back many memories i had as a child. reading what everyone has wrote about their christmases reminds me of things that me and my family use to do. i wish you could have found out in a better way, even though i don't think there is a "better" way to find out that santa, the man we believed in all those years when we were young don't really exist. it was fun and exciting while it lasted. my kids are already ready for christmas, they say they can't wait to see what he is going to bring. thanks for sharing with us and for responding.

8. Rollo1 (1563) | 1 month ago | I don't know exactly, but I think I was about 7 or 8. I found out because my older sisters came home from shopping and went into another room to wrap gifts. I listened at the door.
I don't remember being shocked or disappointed. I think it's harmless fantasy and I don't know one person who felt traumatized by finding out the truth or decided never to trust their parents again.
I still give my kids gifts from Santa and even Mrs Claus. The teenager doesn't believe but my son still does. I treasure these last few years that he still believes in the miracle of Christmas and Santa, it's so much fun.
Children love fantasy and magical happenings. When they get old enough to understand more, they give up some of those magical dreams. It's not harmful, it's just part of growing up.

shontia08 (381) | 1 month ago | no, i never came across a person who stopped trusting their parents when the truth came out about santa either. i also don't think anyone was traumatized about it either. i do think that a lot of kids after finding out the truth wish that it was true, because it did make christmas a little more exciting. i have a good little while before my kids will get to the age where they may stop believing in santa and i am going to cherish each and every christmas with them until they find out. thanks for sharing with us and for responding. have a nice day.

| 10. Bianca_mergillano (77) | 1 month ago | I was around 7-9 years old when I found out that there is no santa but I believed that Santa did exist. My parents used to tell me when I was young that I must sleep before Christmas so that I would be able to receive his gift for me and after doing so, I'm happy because my gift is beside me. I always tell my parents that I want to see Santa Claus but I do believe in him that he is real and that he existed. Until now I hope that I would see him.:)

shontia08 (381) | 1 month ago | yes i always wanted to see him too. it took it a while for me to finally believe that he wasn't real after i was told. all the stories that were told to me over the years made it kind of hard for me to accept the fact that i would never get to meet him. when i was little i use to say that when i am grown and have kids of my own me and santa was going to have a long talk over milk and cookies. lol. i do enjoy playing santa for my kids, i now see how exciting it was for my parents. thanks for sharing with us and for responding.: )
