Constant heart palpitations |
|
For the last 3 months or so i have been having almost constant palpitations. they happen even when im lying down and at ease.. And doing anything physical like walking up stairs can make them really intense and it can be pretty scary.. i have had a ECG and it was normal but i wasn't having them at the time.. my gp is arranging for me to have the 24 belt thing to monitor my heart rhythm..
my question is could this simply be stress related if im having them almost 24/7? i have recently left home and am living with my girlfriends home where i don't really feel comfortable.. as in i don't feel at home.. but i have no where else to go and my gf wouldn't exactly approve with me moving out:s
has anyone else had these palpitations and had a proper diagnosis?

2. Hatley (20712) | 1 month ago | hi shawn sounds like you are stressed out completely.wait til ' your doctor finds out what ther 24 hour heart montior says snd then go from there . It sounds like stressed related anxiety attacks. If it is your heart your doctor will be sure to know after the 24 hour thingy. so relax as it it is p robably stress related.that can be treated pretty easily with some medications and perhaps some meditation techniques.

3. astonysh (1824) | 1 month ago | I would seriously recommend that you get your doctor to send you to see a specialist.
And if he cannot define what the problem is then ask for a second opinion.
I had a triple heart bypass last year. I have learned so much about heart problems since that time, and one consistent fact out there is that no two people have exactly the same problem. So I would not risk giving you any calculated guess as to what your problem is, and how serious it might be.
The specialist should be able to diagnose what the problem is, but I would seriously question him if he tells you that it is not significant.

4. danitykane (990) | 1 month ago | Hi shawn!
The best person who could tell you about it is your doctor. I experienced that before, about three years ago and according to my doctor's finding, I'm in good condition and there were no sign of heart disease or heart problem.
My mom suffered from a heart attack when I was still young and she died because of this illness. So i got so alarmed of the possibility of acquiring the same problem. Until now if i feel something wrong, I make sure to consult our doctor. But you know what, I was so stressed with my work before (I worked in an airline 4 years ago and stayed there for about 3 years) I was assigned in front desk or information where passengers asked me with a lot of things (more of customer service, basically their problem!hahaha).. thats where I got so stressed (as in super stressed out!)..Also, I got a little addicted with coffee back then, and it caused me to have constant heart palpitation. I told my doctor about it and from there, I stopped drinking coffee and I switch to another work that I really like. After a year, I don't encounter having fast heart beat anymore (I mean faster than the normal) and until now I can say that I'm doing okay.
Hope you should consult your doctor again and have your heart monitored. Plus, think of the things that made you so stressed. Even the food that you are consuming might affect your heart. Happy Lotting!

5. paleorainy (609) | 1 month ago | I understand your concerns, maybe it's just anxiety? Or you are overweight? But since it affects the hearth and breathing, I think you should definitely talk to your doctor, you never know how things may develop, it can be nothing but you're being stressed as it may be heavier. Definitely consult with your doctor.

6. nrtan2000 (1025) | 1 month ago | I have not experienced that before but I think there is a possibility that the palpitations could be caused by what you eat or drink. I know a friend who usually palpitated whenever he drinks coffee and because of that he has been avoiding it already. Im not quite sure if there are some medications that need to be taken for those who palpitate but i think you would really need to monitor yourself regularly and try to observed what causes those palpitation.

8. jodylee_04530 (509) | 1 month ago | I say follow your doctors orders very carefully. There is no way of knowing what is going on for sure. Stress does very strange things to the body and it very well could have something to do with that. Have you ever tried meditation to clear your mind? Also, changing your thinking patterns can really help. If you are constantly worried and stressed you can do damage to the body. It is not possible to eliminate all stress from your life but you can control how much you let it affect your well being. Take care of yourself and make sure you are being wary of how much stress is in your life.

9. jpso138 (3626) | 1 month ago | I hope that there is nothing wrong with you like what you found out on you ecg. But you should have yourself check again, perhaps with stress test and other procedures done by a specialist. I do not think that having constant palpitations is normal. It is better to know the problem early rather than wait for such to get worst if there are any.

10. nolipo (254) | 1 month ago | I've had them a lot lately as well. Mostly if I'm laying on my left side. They started when I had back surgery and was taking Vicodin so I thought it was just related to that. But even though I'm in quite a bit of pain most of the time, I stopped taking the Vicodin, felt as though I was getting addicted, I still have them. I think it may just be stress related. I'm not working, can't find a job, and in pain. So for me that's what I think it is. But for you, I can't say. Going to the Dr. and getting it check is a good thing. Also I did the belt thing years ago when my heart was always hurting, dull pains and found out I had a bulge in one of my valves. Nothing serious, but I see it hurts more if I overdue it on coffee. Good luck and I hope you will be ok.
