Have you had okra or lady finger? |
|
Have you tasted or eaten okra or other call it lady finger? This green and slimy when cooked edible yummy and nutritious vegetable is good for those who have digestion problem. My aunt said it has lots of antioxidants. I just boil it or steam it and dip in soy sauce and it's good. My dad grows okra in the garden and the neighbors sometimes just get them without asking for permission. LOL. Anyways, the plants are old now and the remaining okra had turned to brown and seeds to be harvested. It grows well just anywhere. So okra anyone?

2. daliaj (2746) | 1 month ago | I know ladies finger. I am not a fan of it. My mom makes a dish of it in coconut milk and I like it. My favorite ladies finger dish is stuffed ladies finger. I had it once from a resturant and it was very good. I downloaded the recipe of it from internet, got all the ingredients including corn flour, and tried making it, but it was a big flop. One of my colleagues wife makes it very well.

5. deebomb (8987) | 1 month ago | I live in the southern part of the United States and okra is a very popular vegetable here. There are even a few festivals for the okra. it is often deep fried after coating with corn meal. I have made pickles with them in the past. They are also often added to a dish called gumbo.

6. neildc (3495) | 1 month ago | Yes, of course, i do and i love okra. I love it steamed and just like you, we usually eat it dipped in soy sauce with kalamansi. But i like to share something i learned about okra from my step-daughter. There was a time in her high school days that they were asked to do or cook something as their project. They sliced okra into two, then remove the seeds in it. Then they put some corned beef on and they fried it. Yummy. And that's another way to cook and eat okra. You can then dip it in catsup or gravvy.

neildc (3495) | 1 month ago | hi agv. I also love okra in pinakbet. And also in pork sinigang or shrimp sinigang. But may I ask you about "laswa", what is this dish made of? Is it a specialty in a certain place? You know, I just heard about this from you.

8. JAG2009 (197) | 1 month ago | You're right, Sandymay, it is pretty yucky and slimy, but when cooked properly, the slimyness (spelling?) can be hidden and the taste enjoyed. My favorite recipe is to fry okra along with coconut grating. My mom also used to prepare an okra curry - I still haven't figured out how it was made, but I do know it was quite delicious. I guess in this case, appearances can literally be deceptive, huh?
