Would You Let Your Children Walk to School Alone?

No it is not safe to send children to their school to some definite age. So I never send their to school alone.

for me to let children go to school alone is a good step so that children learn to be independent. Without familiarize themselves they go to school, for me, just create a dependency that would make it difficult for the parents themselves.

Hello getbrowser this is checkmail and often do think that childrens must walk themselves to the school if its near or close to their home.Its necessary as it builds up their confidence in themselves, as well as make them able in this world.And think its the best safety measure for them to experience somethings alone.Most of they start getting independent and stop depending on others for their simple needs.But if school is far away then should go through schoolbuses with other childrens.

I don’t think kids walking alone to school anymore. Now in every place school buses/private vans are available for kids. In my childhood I used to walk to school but that also not alone but with friends and siblings.

I have seen some kids are walking with their friends and without the escort of parents. I felt very bad on the same. Here the city is very much rush and in my opinion somebody should be there with kids if they are walking. If the school is near and there is not much traffic then it is alright for kids walk alone.

Hi I'm glad you took this up. No, I won't let my kids walk to school or vice versa alone, especially to home. In my time, me and my siblings used to walk to school because we can't afford a ride. But in the past, the roads were still safe and we had nothing to fear about snatcher or God forbid, gangsters or any bad elements in society. We used to enjoy walking to school or home but nowadays, we can't really our kids go home or go to school on their own. I always accompany them in the pedicab (not school bus, we commute) to school and in the afternoon, my husband sees to it that he or one of our cousins pick them up from school.

Never in my kids entire school days and lives that they walk to school alone. We have a caregiver to take and fetch them from school. While we're at work, she looks after our kids.

I don't want to risk my kids safety they always have someone to accompany them. Both my kids are special -- they have autism! So, they need extra attention, care and support as far as going to school and going home are concerned.

Well, if the school is near to our house I will let my kids walk to school alone. But if the school is far away I prefer to be whit them so I will be sure that they are ok.
In fact...we can not protect our children from everything - the dangers lurking even in school. What should I do then? Maybe to go whit them in the school and keep protecting them?

I would not like to do that unless they were 12 years old or older. It might be alittle better if they could walk to school with a couple of classmates; perhaps there are neighbors that go to the same school. That would add to the safety alot.

of course but after a certain age.
now I take my child with me he is 4 years old. but after his class 6 I will think of sending him alone. when he will attend the age of 10 yrs he can think what is good for him and what is bad for him. but he will not have the full authority to take any decision for him.
