Problems on voters late registration email this discussion to a friend?

The last days of voters registration encountered a lot of problems as tons of late comers flocked to Comelec offices.

However, it seems odd that the registration started last year 2008 and still there a lot of late comers.

Is it because of the bad attitude of some Filipinos who love to come on the last minute? confused

What do you think? No hurting words, please. happy

I think the problem is with the people who came to register at the last minute. Sorry guys.
Plus the COMELEC's problem with the limited number of computers available does not sit well with the last-minute registrants. But as you said, the registration started in 2008 and so I think we all have been given enough time despite the lack of computers. People from different sectors tried to help -- the COMELEC employees are working non-stop, the media has also done its part of reminding people to register, but still there are people who came in the last minute.
A change of attitude must be done. But then again, it would take a long long time.

Our attitude should be blamed about this because the registration from what I know started last year and they taking it for granted. Filipinos always want the last minute of registration. My youngest sister registered last year because we said it much better to register earlier than late. We learned our lesson back then it is terrible.

The main reason is attitude. Second is the system. I admit that I did not renew my registration simply because I don't want to spend the entire day waiting for my turn. Cheers!

I do think that it is on the people's attitude of doing things the last minute. The registration of voters has been ongoing for the past several years and was already intensified last year to accommodate all eligible voters to be registered. A TV station has also started campaigning alongside with Comelec to encourage many to register but I guess the attitude of delaying things still came in.

I think Comelec has the right to refuse those trying to register themselves because I think they have given an ample time for them to get registered. After their registration Comelec has still to compile things out and deliver this to their precincts. I think this must also be given time to Comelec too.

I agree with all of you, it's the attitude of us Filipinos who love to come on the last minute. We love to cram, if you know what I mean. If you think about it, even if Comelec has only a few computers for registration, it wouldn't have been a problem if people came in trickles, compared to what happened recently.

Those who came only during the last minute shouldn't complain. They were given ample time. Unless they weren't informed earlier...

I would agree, Filipinos really practice the "manyana habit". We know it's not a good practice but most of us still do it. We want our government to change but we don't try our best to do the right thing, simply by registering to vote. And then after the elections most of people will complain with how the president runs the country.

What else is new to the attitude of Filipino, just rush in when the deadline is about to end. I don't know why people really cling to this bad habit. Registration for election already started in 2008 but I am wondering why they did not mind going to the Comelec ahead of time.

I believe we Filipinos have the habit of putting for tomorrow what we can do for today. From what I remembered, it was as early as April that Comelec has announced that registration is already on-going. Me and my husbad registered in July 2009 and there wasn't as many people as there was during the last days of registration.

Late registration can always be extended for days and weeks, the problem was the errors in the registration, eta rosales have discovered glitch in the computer program, where registered voters of wrong entries have appeared in a registration list, the likes of 600 registrants have appeared to be 100 years of age, GMA 7 have tried to investigate the person but they say they are only 50 years old and not 100, even addresses was not correct. That was found in one precint of Taguig and the country has many precint.

The comelec has a lot of work to do, or else if this scheme was another way to cheat then we end up exercising our priviledge but all we knew the cheater is design to win. Just my opinion

I think the problem is a mixture of both, the people and the system. The combination of both resulted to a very disorderly voters registration. My brother is one of those latecomers. lol. He was always putting it off so it resulted in him registering at the last minute but I somehow feel for him because he fall in line for 9 hours just because the COMELEC office here has one computer for biometrics. I can't really blame COMELEC because I can see they are working their butts off. Not to sound paranoid though, I think that this is somehow link to corruption because if most public official are honest, COMELEC will probably have more budget for computers and other election paraphernalia.

Hello fatherblogger,

In this situation, i think there's no way that i would blame comelec for it, they were ready for the registration since last year, and there's no way that it would be there fault because they have inform the public already last year about this. and even if they have a job, they still can make time to vote. regarding your question, yes i agree that:

bad attitude of some Filipinos who love to come on the last minuterasp

NO doubt about it, we do that to almost every situation when it is almost done.
