Former Presidents Set to Debate

They're both relatively funny guys to be elitist a$$hat politicians, so I think I'd watch. Bush with his Christopher Walken gone country impression and Clinton with the smoky tone and baby thumb -- it would be good.

is there something they are going to debate or are they just going to chatter? i can see it becoming very boring indeed if they don't have things they are meant to discuss (probably would end up being an exchange of golf and grandchildren stories)

Candidates running for office have to stick to scripted points and repeat their campaign rhetoric. When the debate is not going to impact your political career, I imagine that you can speak more honestly. Not that I don't expect them to pull the party lines out here and there, but it could be interesting.

Clinton has a tendency to say many more stupid things than Bush has been accused of since he left office. I think he was a real detriment to Hillary's campaign. And Bill likes to talk about himself a lot. To my mind, it might give a more relaxed sort of venue that could give Bush his last chance to make a good impression.

I might watch it, but I would like to know what it is they are going to debate. If it's just whether all the problems of Obama can be blamed on Bush, I think I can get those opinions and debates right here on mylot.

Should be good for a laugh I guess. Personally, I am so angry at Bush, I really don't want to see that face ever again.

This will be good because most people don't know what a debate is like. They watch the mud slinging during campaigns and vote for the lesser of two idiots. I'm sure this will be education too, both ex-Presidents are very itellgent and well read.

Hi ZepherSun! I think it would be interesting to see those two on a non-political stage. I went to Google to see if it would be televised and discovered that the whole thing has been canceled, at least for now!

Apparently, the promoter got a bit too excited about the appearance and "overhyped" it. Yep, that's what the article said in the New York Post! It was supposed to be a discussion, not a debate and so now it's no go.

.....Hi Zephyrsun, if this is a real debate, it would be worth watching, if televised. George W. surprises audiences in debates sometimes, so it may not be a total blowout. Most people know that Bill Clinton is a Rhodes Scholar, and they know of the width and breadth of W., so I would expect that Mr. Clinton would be gentle with W., based on Mr. Clinton's respect for his father. Also that this is being done for money, and you want the people to get their monies worth. I would watch it, postively, this will be history in the making. Let's get it on.

I would enjoy it more if it was President Bill Clinton and President Jimmy Carter. I don't want to hear GWBush ever again if I don't have to. He can't even speak proper english. Clinton will win this debate just on be able to speak clearly.
