Do you sometimes eat with your fingers, no spoon or fork? |
|
or you find the idea revolting. I do eat with my fingers. There are some dishes that are best eaten not using spoon and fork. When eating lobster and prawns, I find it enjoyable peeling them with my fingers. This is only when I am alone or with the family. When eating out in restaurants or parties, I follow the established way of using spoon and forks.
Any preference?

2. sagnik42 (977) | 1 month ago | I do eat with my fingers sometimes. When I feel that they are clean enough, or when I am in a hurry, I use my fingers to eat.

|
manong05 (2930) | 1 month ago | Yes, I won't dare eating with my bare hands if I'm not sure they are absolutely clean. I normally do a thorough washing before going to the table.
enjoy!

sagnik42 (977) | 1 month ago | Mostly, I eat with my hand after I have just taken a shower. I think that is the time my hands are the cleanest.

sagnik42 (977) | 1 month ago | Sometimes I visit houses where they eat with their hands. In those cases I do wash my hand thoroughly before eating. I think everybody should do it if they eat with their hands.

4. moneymakingtoday (1734) | 1 month ago | Yes, there are foods and dishes that are best eaten with fingers. Lobsters and prawns and crabs, too. Shellfishes are eaten with fingers. When at the beach, we use fingers especially for grilled seafood and some agricultural products such as sweet potato and banana. Of course, we don't do that in restaurants but instead use spoon and fork. But have you noticed that there is a rise in restaurants which are in "kinamot" (using fingers) style?
| |
| |
|
|
manong05 (2930) | 1 month ago | We have a lot of things in common my friend. I have yet to go to a "kinamot" restaurant. "kamay kamayan" yes, is that a Visayan version? it sounds like it is. Yes, it's no fun eating sweet potato with a spoon, with fork, maybe, especially when it is steaming hot and fresh from the pot.
Some people will be horrified to see you eating with your fingers in restaurants. People will be looking at you wondering which mountain did you come down from. LOL But mind you, many of them are doing it at home too, sometimes with their feet up. hahaha.

|
|
moneymakingtoday (1734) | 1 month ago | hahahaha, with feet up... I think you are seeing me like that. Yes, that is the Visayan version of "kamay-kamayan". I now wonder if there is a feet version, too? hahahaha

|
|
manong05 (2930) | 1 month ago | tiil tiil? that will be a good business proposition. "kinamot og tiil tiil" Hahahaha ( using hands and with feet up) We can start a partnership. It will be the first restaurant of this kind in the world. hahaha

moneymakingtoday (1734) | 1 month ago | hahahaha, that's new and will surely be a click. you are crazy!

5. 3superkids (328) | 1 month ago | I agree it's definitely better to eat these kind of seafoods with using our fingers or hand. But even in restaurant if it's necessary i also use my fingers. I do not enjoy eating lobster or even prawns when i'm using spoon and fork. Come to think of it lobster's shell is kind of hard to peel off using fork. prawns also is kind of difficult to peel off with spoon and fork. and when i'm eating a very crispy fried chicken at home i also use my fingers. of course before we eat using our hand we should make it sure that we wash our hands properly... thanks this is really a nice topic...

manong05 (2930) | 1 month ago | There's no fun eating lobsters and crabs using spoons. Chances are you will end up picking them up from the floor. LOL But some people are good at it, I am not and I still prefer using my hands.
enjoy!

6. sandymay16 (1330) | 1 month ago | Yes I sometimes eat using my hands at home if the food involves shrimps, dried fish, some fried foods. And it's always too much fulfilling eating with hands especially with dried fish and with day old rice LOL There are restaurants specializing in eating with hands. Just be sure to wash properly. And these reataurants have washing area in every corner to ensure people really wash before eating.

|
manong05 (2930) | 1 month ago | Yes I can't imagine myself eating dried fish especially anchovies using a spoon. Especially when you have to dip them in vinegar or any other dips. Yes, and eating with your fingers help clean your hands too? LOL

manong05 (2930) | 1 month ago | Yes, we normally use both hands, one for breaking the shell and one for preventing it from reaching the floor. LOL Yes I agree with you misterwit, I can't picture myself eating spaghetti using my hands. Which way to eat is really dependent on the kind of food we are eating. Like porridge, for example, one can not eat them using fingers.
enjoy!

10. pp_earn (193) | 1 month ago | Yes!I eat most of the times with my fingers when I am at home but outside I also always use spoons or forks.I feel good eating with spoons and forks but my parents say that one should eat with fingers too because of the juices that go inside the body while eating with fingers which is not there while using spoons or forks, so health wise its good to eat with fingers and hygienically i think with spoons.

|
manong05 (2930) | 1 month ago | True, parents and others from the older generation would say that it is much better to eat with one's fingers and the food are more tasty, and spoons being metal, the food are more bland.
cheers!
