Yes, I won't dare eating with my bare hands if I'm not sure they are absolutely clean. I normally do a thorough washing before going to the table.

Mostly, I eat with my hand after I have just taken a shower. I think that is the time my hands are the cleanest.

Sometimes I visit houses where they eat with their hands. In those cases I do wash my hand thoroughly before eating. I think everybody should do it if they eat with their hands.

well have used my fingers my whole life and i dont think ever i got food poisoning or stomack infection becoz of dirty hands.washing hands before meal is all that it needs.....

We have a lot of things in common my friend. I have yet to go to a "kinamot" restaurant. "kamay kamayan" yes, is that a Visayan version? it sounds like it is. Yes, it's no fun eating sweet potato with a spoon, with fork, maybe, especially when it is steaming hot and fresh from the pot.

Some people will be horrified to see you eating with your fingers in restaurants. People will be looking at you wondering which mountain did you come down from. LOL
But mind you, many of them are doing it at home too, sometimes with their feet up.

There's no fun eating lobsters and crabs using spoons. Chances are you will end up picking them up from the floor. LOL But some people are good at it, I am not and I still prefer using my hands.

Yes I can't imagine myself eating dried fish especially anchovies using a spoon. Especially when you have to dip them in vinegar or any other dips. Yes, and eating with your fingers help clean your hands too? LOL

Welcome to the club my friend. I thought there are only a few of us who are using our hands in eating. I have yet to see someone who eats sandwiches using a spoon, knife and fork, yes.

Yes, we normally use both hands, one for breaking the shell and one for preventing it from reaching the floor. LOL Yes I agree with you misterwit, I can't picture myself eating spaghetti using my hands. Which way to eat is really dependent on the kind of food we are eating. Like porridge, for example, one can not eat them using fingers.

True, parents and others from the older generation would say that it is much better to eat with one's fingers and the food are more tasty, and spoons being metal, the food are more bland.

i do eat with my fingers too because in our culture. I can feel my food tasty when im using my fingers. In restaurants i used spoon if needed but if i eat sea food or fried chicken i use my fingers.
