If religion is real, what purpose do other galaxies and planets serve?

Hi ulalume, You make a very good point if someone believes that life exists only on this planet. I am spiritual but not religious and often feel that most religions do more harm than good. We are, I believe, spiritual beings having a human experience and all planets have their purpose. Of course no one can prove life after death but we all have our thoughts. It is all a great mystery. According to my analysis, God does not tell to what he creates planets and galaxies, we must think about ourself. Earth is protected by several layers from cold to heat millions of times hotter than usual fire, so before fraction of planets or galaxies to the earth they has no left. Calculations based on day, month, and year, the end is we obtain a variety of calendars from just seeing Galaxies planetary positions and while we're on earth and humans continue to grow until now.

God is so much bigger than you realize. God has more than a galaxy, more than a universe.Think an infinite number of universes. The universe we live in is vast. There is life in this galaxy besides us. When you have the wisdom to be able to travel the distances, you will discover. Can you really say at this given point in time that the people of the Earth are ready???? Lots of lessons are needed still. In time, man will get there. They will even terraform mars. Not quite ready yet!!

The redundancy of space and the enornous lenth of time that has elapsed before man evolved are two good reasons that should put religious writings into true perspective. We knew nothing when those words were written so how much value
can they really have?

I am fascinated by the universe too. But I don't think religion has anything to do with galaxies. But God has. He created it all.

I have never been religious, but I believe I am spiritual. I believe God is within every one of us, and in everything we see. Everything in the universe has an important role to play. The thing is to realise that each one of us can manifest the divine within if we try.

I agree that religion is often misguiding. Chanting mantras is not going to make us better people. We need to act in the right ways. Live and let live. Follow the Middle Way that does not allow extremes. This is the true Buddhist attitude.

And it was Albert Einstein who said that if there is a "religion" of the future, it is Buddhism. It's the only "religion" he admired. I put religion in quotes because Buddhism is not a religion but a philosophy and a way of life.

Everything exist for a reason and I believe God created us/it all. No individual in this time can answer your question because the universe is somewhat endless. We don't really know what's in it or beyond it. What is your basis in saying that nothing exist in the galaxy and space? Is the human technology now that great that it can really prove that nothing exist in outer space? The universe is mysterious just like how mysterious our sea is. As far as I know we cannot really tell what kind of creatures exist under the deepest of the Earth's sea and that's the same for the universe. We know religion exists here on Earth but we can never really tell if it exist in any of the planets or galaxies. We'll never know if someone or something might be just wondering or thinking this very same thing as us. I suggest believe what you want to believe and be comfortable with it. Sometimes it's helpful to not know everything at all I'll ask you this, if you happen to find out the truth why is everything in this world like it is, what would you do or what can you do?

God Says in Quran that he created earths and heavens (universes) and he put living creators in it. So there must be living creators in earth and in many other globes or other areas of universe.

Also God mentions that he created it to think ourselves and understand the Creator and maintainer of the huge massive universe(s) and its different parts and how powerful the creator is.

When you analyze scientifically you can understand how accurately designed the revolving and motions of each planet and they are not collapsing to a destruction. This all implies a powerful creator and planner behind it.

Few centuries back somebody living in the other side of Atlantic could have asked such question why such a huge landmass need to exist on the other side. Now we know that America "needs" to exist. Few decades later we may as well populate Mars and few centuries later Jupiter/Saturn etc. The question won't then be a challenge for those who believe in God.
