Unwanted Visitor

I would try to have any conversation with her outside my house. If that wasn't possible, and being rude wasn't an option (because who likes to be rude?), every time she came over, I'd excuse myself, go to my medicine cabinet, and if it didn't have a lock, I'd scoop up the drugs, lock them in a small box, and hide the box. That's a lot of trouble to go to, but never trust someone who has had a drug problem when they know are near drugs. My uncle had a drug problem, and he had his own prescriptions, a lot of them. A LOT of them. That didn't stop him from stealing my prescriptions when I visted my grandparents (he lives next door to my grandparents). Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought he would have done it. To have plenty of his own, to come over to my grandparents when we were all asleep, and to steal my medication.I don't want to paint every former addict as not being able to control themselves. But she isn't far away enough from her former habit to relax around her.

So you think she is coming to your house to steal your meds? If so, hide the meds somewhere that she can't get too them. If its just that you don't want her in your house because of her drug problemm, just don't answer the door. That is what I would do.

I dont understand why you should recieve in your home someone with whom you are uncomfortable and who, besides that, has such a drug problem that she could steal your meds. Remember what happened with the boys who were helping you at your home. You don´t need to have someone you have to keep watching. Just don´t open the door: you could well be taking a nap or a shower. Or you can tell her straightforward that she is not welcome.
I had to do that years ago with my brother in law. When my husband died, he told the kids that he would be a granpa for them. Then, three months later Tomás (my grandson) got cancer and was dying for 9 months. He never even bothered to call to see what he could do. The only phone calls I recieved were from his wife to ask if I had solved some legal problems so that they could sell a house that was my mother in law´s. When Tomas died I didn´t call them and they were mad that they had to know it through the papers. I said they did not deserve to be called and please don´t bother to ring my bell because I wouldn´t let them in. And that was it. I haven´t seen them for 9 years and have no wish to.
So that was the end of my problem.

Look in your phone book for Adult protection agency and let them know what is happening.
If you don' t find the number call the hospital in your town and ask them for the number.
Adult protection will invesigate and this woman, whoever she is needs to be stopped.
Meanwhile, do not let her in and tell your neighbors the same thing.

Wow,I wouldn't want someone posing as a friend that was there just to steal my meds.
I would lock up my meds in a fireproof box and just to see if that's what she was up to I would get some vitamin C and garlic pills (they're smaller, white and round) and put them in a prescription bottle, keeping count of just how many I had in the bottle and see if they disappear after her visits.

Although some people do beat their addiction, it is a bit suspicious that she is visiting people with medication. I would have a word to the girl in private, you say she is a very likeable person? Maybe she just needs someone to steer her in the right direction. But you having known her and her past problems would make you a better judge of her character, you would know that you cannot help someone that is not crying out for it. It is sad when people go down the path of drug abuse, I lost a sister when she was 19 from an overdose, I was very young at the time but I think what if someone had of tried to reach out to her and help her - would thing be different today?

She is a lost soul but not a lost cause, sometimes you have to lick the dirt on the ground to rise up and be the best person you can be.

I would hate to be in the position to tell her she was not welcome in my home but it has got to bve done since she is on drugs and cannot be trusted anyway. I would not want to have her in my home either because it would not look good on me either.

Hi Jo. Sometimes, harsh as it might be, we have to protect ourselves and not worry about "manners." Given this woman's history, I would either not answer the door to her, or I would go to the door and be honest about why you would rather she not visit.

Hopefully, she is turning her life around for the better, but only time can show if that is the case.

You need to just not let her into your house again. Were you missing any meds after she left? You could put the meds up in your kitchen cabinets instead of locking them up. If she comes by again unexpected just tell her you are busy so you can not invite her in maybe if you do this a few times she will get the hint and not come by again.
