South Korean Lady Passes Driver's EXAM On Her 950th Try .................. |
|
This is interesting. I was reading Yahoo News and I chanced upon this. Here's the link, just in case you guys wanna read it:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091106/ap_on_fe_st/as_odd_skorea_aspiring_driver;_ylt=AmV_i1arKmtmCglCANOM6iR0fNdF
I really admire her courage. Although sitting for an exam which one consistently fails for 950th times is not an easy feat, think about this. Despite everything, she didn't give up. Not once. And now, she has to go through the next hurdle of sitting for a driving test. I hope she gets her license soon, really.
How many times would you say 'I Give Up!'.. and how many times did you take your driving exam and then driving test before you obtain that license? Do share; thanks and have a nice day, everyone.

My limit for it would be only just three takes because I can't take myself doing the same thing over and over again. I would just simply accept the truth that I'm not for it. And gee, it's just a waste of time. That's just my opinion brother.

5. lelin1123 (4620) | 2 months ago | I first went for my licence back when I was 19 and didn't pass it. I didn't try again till I was in my 40's and I failed it again. Then the last time I tried was when I was 50 and I pass the test and past the driving test. I now have my license for two years but I don't like driving at all, unfortunately. I believe if I had gotten my license when I was younger I would love to drive but I'm just to nervous of a driver and can't handle it.

zed_k4 (4790) | 2 months ago | That's not too bad, actually, considering you tried it for only 3 times. I also think that driving is actually depending on the person itself, whether he/she enjoys it. As long as you are safe, sound and happy, that's all that matters, really.:)

6. GardenGerty (20520) | 2 months ago | I never had trouble with the written exams, but the driving test itself I took about three times before I passed it. That was in part because the automobile I was driving was defective and would do things like spray out power steering fluid, or refuse to go in reverse. I hate the skills part of any test.

| |
|
|
zed_k4 (4790) | 2 months ago | Jeez..I know how frustrating that can be, indeed. The skills part of a test is always a bummer, no matter how prepared we are mentally. And especially if the car is sort of slow and old..

7. drannhh (7573) | 2 months ago | Wow! I would never give up either, but fortunately I have always passed my test on the first try. Maybe the written test is harder in Korea. This year I expected to have to take the written which includes a vision exam, too, but they surprised me and extended my license another 4 years. I think that someone who has driven for 20 or 30 years without ever getting into an accident or getting a ticket should get automatic extensions. Apparently my government agrees with me, lol.
When I was a 17-year old girl living out in the country, I failed my first driving test though. When I went home crying my neighbor told me the mean man in my town failed EVERY woman who ever took the test because he hated women and did not think we should be allowed to drive. She told me the same thing happened to her and to go to the neighboring town. I did and passed right away. I wish I had asked her first, but my dad took me to that mean guy and then I had to wait another 30 days. Grrrr. When you are 17 and have to walk to work (or beg somebody for a ride) 30 days is a long time to wait.

drannhh (7573) | 2 months ago | I did not know that! So you do not have to drive or take the vision test in order to get your license? Is there an age limit? Here it is written on our license whether we have to wear glasses or not to drive.
| |
|
|
zed_k4 (4790) | 2 months ago | Oh yeah, I forgot about the vision test. We do have to take for the first time round only, but if you are partially blind, but still can see, you can still take the test..
| |
|
|
zed_k4 (4790) | 2 months ago | Oh, I almost forgot. The age limit here is 18. There?

8. dragon54u (9761) | 2 months ago | If she has tried that many times and failed, I would hope that she would channel her determination into something else that has a smaller chance of killing other people!
She is obviously determined and has sticktoitivity. She would be a driving force if she would volunteer to help people or take in foster children--anything but drive a car!! This woman is a person who has the determination it takes to succeed but she should direct her efforts to something she is actually good at. Maybe she has talents that she hasn't realized yet but I think she should take a taxi and devote herself to something that makes the most of her skills.
For what it's worth, I know my own driving days are limited. Driving means independence and in her case it means driving for her business but maybe she would shine at keeping the books while someone else drives!

950 attempts to reach her success. What a peeler of failure she climb to catch her success. It is like the mountaineering like of the highest peak mount Everest.

10. neildc (3531) | 2 months ago | Is this really for real? 950 times taking the test? This is something impossible, i guess. lol
i know for some tests, that you can only take the same test, if you fail, only after 6 months or a year. And these could only be taken only for 5 times, the maximum. So if 950 times she took the same test, did she took it on what frequency? Sorry about this, that i can't go to the link as i am having a mobile phone right now and i can't go on that.
anyway, i am not that disappointed when i fail an exam. I just take sometime to review what could be my mistakes. So i can get more prepared next time.
when i applied for my driver's license, fortunately, i got it on my first take.
