Veterans Day  

hi there,
we have here what we called "araw ng kagitingan" its called in english as independence day.we celebrate our old folks and veterans in one holiday ceremony.these veterans have program and they are honor for the what they contribute in our country.we support them and the government give beneficiaries and monthly allowances to these soldiers.

live in this retirement center. I am also in the US in Ca. but am not able
to get out to the parades and stuff as I am handicapped.

I pay homage to all those patriot who offer there those TODAYS ( TODAY OF THEM SO TODAYS) for out TOMORROW. I want to salute all the solider of any country they offer their life any danger to protect our life. So It is rightly said that patriot never dies like common people do. We ever remember them for their deed, thus they live in our mind for ever.

as same as peace001 said,Amy day is the day for us to remember and honor the soldier who is died and who is still living,on 1th August.on this day we will arrange some showes or activity for the living soldier or their close relatives.

Well, here in WA state we have 1 hr. left of Veterans day, and overall this was a day of reflection and thankfulness for those who have served, and those still serving. Also a time of rememberance for all of those who have died serving our Country as well. I know that I always do appreciate what they do for us, and take time to thank a Veteran when I see one, and when I see someone who is still in active duty I take time to thank them, and let them know my thoughts and Prayers are with them for safety as well.

We don't exactly have a day when we remember the soldiers but on our Republic day (26th Jan)they are honored by the president for their heroics.

I think I may sound grumbling but i think that it is good that we haven't earmarked an entire day for celebrations, otherwise we would have one more public holiday. India, just pounces on whatever they can lay their hands on, to grab a holiday.

Its a wonderful thing that you do my freind, to light a candle remembering them.

Apart from Veterans Day, in Turkey, veterans are honored on most of the national days. Usually they watch the ceromonies with high level protocol as a sign of respect.

We also honor our Martyr's Day. Honoring the ones that give their lives for the nation and country.

I just hope, they're not forgotten in rest of the days and they can live in better conditions with their earnings from being a veteran.

They deserve all honors. They are the real heros.Remember their sacrifices.
