A short time ago I was getting something out of my hall cupboard and some bamboo kabob stick fell out. While I was trying to pick them up they reminded me of a game we played as kids. Pick up stix. Did you play with them too? They are colored sticks and you drop them and try to pick them up one at a time with out causing the others to move. With my hands I sure couldn't pick any up with out moving the ones around it.

Yes I used to play pick up sticks, long long ago, lol. I loved that game, I also loved playing jacks, that was always fun. Back in our day we had so many fun games. Kids are missing out on so much these days, but then they have all this new technology that we didn't have. We actually had to use our imagination. Thanks for the sweet memories.

I'm doing good, how have you been? My mom is doing good, the grandbaby is doing good too. Would you believe she will be 2 in January, isn't it something the way time goes by. She still has the heaht defects but so far its not causing her any difficulties, the docs are just keeping a close eye on her. Shhe is growing and doing what she is supposed too. Take care, as always its nice seeing you.

Hello Polly. How are you doing? Your mom and that grandbaby ok too? Yes in those days we actually had to interact with our friends and family. I was pretty good at jacks too. Did you do the hula hoop. That I could never get the hang of.

We spent hours playing it. It really took some skill. I wouldn't do very good these days. My hands don't do very will these days. I had difficulty picking up the skewers I spilled

Hello riyasam. I'm glad that I put a smile on your face. We don't always realize that we share so much with other countries.

The sticks are of different colors and pointed on both ends. One is black. You hold the sticks to the floor and let them fall. You then try to pick each one up with out moving any of the others. If you can get the black one you can use it to pick up the others. The person with the most sticks is the winner.

I think I remember playing that game before but I do not know when it was. I know it had to be a long time ago though. I remember playing jacks alot. That used to be a fun game to play also. Bounce the ball and pick up as many jacks as you can and catch the ball before it bounces on the floor again.

You started each round by picking up 1 jack at a time then it was two jacks and so forth. Then after you got through that full round you started doing fancy ways of picking up the jacks.

I have heard of that game but can't say I ever played it. The closest I can think of is 52 pickup where you just have to pick the cards up fast... I don't remember how fast though my sister always wanted to play that game with me, of course I was the one PICKING UP the cards. Lol!

My folks would play that game with us when we got to be too annoying. It kept us busy when we were quit small.

Always good to have games that occupy the mind so as to quiet the mouth! lol! Don't yet have kids but between my husband and I, I am sure we'll produce some rambunctious children!

I never had that game but we played a game that's now called "Sorry", a marble/dice game, on a board that my uncle made for us. I still have the game and sometimes play by myself against an imaginary opponent. We mostly played outside games, we practically lived outside! I loved winter for the snowball fights and building forts to throw them from. We'd play card games like War and Rummy, too, and marbles. Can you see the pattern here? Cheap games!

We played out side a lot too. I lived with my grandparents and had cousins right next door. In the summer we would stat out playing one type of movie and before we got very far would be into another type. We played a lot of Wagon Train (a popular tv show at that time) and Tarzan. We had a big pasture to roam around in. We also had some of those big cement tiles that they put under roads and played tag on them. But at night we would play things like pick-up sticks, jacks, mother may I, button button, and hide the thimble. We also played war and rummy. We also played a lot marbles. Now it's computer games of some sort.

I remember Wagon Train! Clint Eastwood was quite the hunk--still is! I also remember watching Sky King, Rip Cord, that Lloyd Bridges show where he was a diver and we all had to watch Lawrence Welk, Bonanza and Don Ameche's Circus. But we all watched together!
