All day the phone as well as the door has been going all day and not even getting the time to do any house work.I hate days like that when everyone wants something all the time. The one phone call i have been waiting for has not happened.Tomorrow what i think i am going to do is turn the phone off or better still not answer it.

Do you really want to do housework? I think you have an excellent idea. Turn the phone off. That is what I do. I figure if people really want to contact me they will leave a message and a way of getting back to them if you don't already know. The rest can go fly a kite. I check the phone occasionally and if I am taking a break I call people back. Usually people that know me very well know when it is convenient for me to take calls. And if people are good friends or the least bit respectful and considerate as well they will wait and call when it is convenient. I make it an ongoing thing that I am available after a certain time and until a certain time.

I would put a message on your voice mail as to when you would have your phone on or be available. Tell callers that you are working during certains hours. Whatever is convenient for you.

Perhaps i will tell people from now on when the best time is to call me as at other times i will be very busy.I think that now it is coming up to christmas people will i hope be too busy and will not call as much.I hate house work, but it needs to be done, but it takes longer to get it done if people keep ringing all the time.

There are days when it seems every time you get settled in to do something you get interrupted, or you remember "oh I meant to do this" and have to get up and get going on something else! Oh and then the times when you go to use the bathroom and the doorbell rings or the phone rings. With the phone, I may just answer it if It's the hubs, but call back if it's someone else!

This happens all the time,i have now learnt to ignor certain calls if i am busy and let the answering machine take a message as that way i donot have to keep stopping and starting doing things.I tend now ignore the door if i see who is coming and i know that they will stop me from finishing what i am doing and say i was out the back so i did not hear the door, which i find is better than keep getting stopped all the time.

There are days like that, but I will not turn it off. I don't mainly because I am afraid of someone not being able to contact me in an emergency. There are days my phone does not ring and then, some days it just rings all day. Good luck in getting a little peace and quiet.

I am going to explain to people to not ring me in the mornings as that is when i am going to concentrate on my house work as well as when i make all my other phone calls that i have to make.Perhaps that way i can get a few more things done.

At least you know you're popular. If you turn your phone off, you might miss that call you're waiting for. Maybe you should call them?

I sometimes turn the ringer off on the telephone so that I can get things done. My brother works at night and cannot sleep for the phone ringing. I can still see who has called by lookiing at the caller id log on the telephone. Sometimes I hate answering the telephone, too. Happy Mylotting

I now have caller id just incase someone like one of the schools need me and if it is someone who i have not got time to see then i tend to let the call go to the answering machine.I also if someone comes to the door make out as if i did not hear it as then i do not have to stop what i am doing.

I can handle the phone ringing, but I don't like people coming to the door without calling first, and if I don't answer the phone, it obviously means that I am not available. so if I don't answer the phone, but they still come to the door, I find it incredibly rude. Even if I am at home, if i am not answering the phone, then I am N O T available, and that's all there is to it. If I called someone and they did not answer, there is no way I would go to their house and look for them unless I thought they were in some kind of danger, but the people I ignore on the phone I never ignore long enough for them to worry, I just tell them i was unavailable.

I think that there are alot of people that tend to just turn up thinking that it is ok and that you do not have other things to do i also think that alot of people that ring as well are ringing as they want to come round, which is nice sometimes, but not all the time as they may not have things todo but i do.

but there are chances to miss some important calls in that way..if u switch off your phone...maybe you miss some important msg or something u have been waiting for many days....we wish many times that the life should be without cell phones ..but it would be more difficult i think...

I know the feeling well. For years I could get by with not answering the phone, but lately I am involved in some projects with people who do not have email, so if they call and I don't answer they are likely to call all their friends to ask if I am OK. Then they might all come over to check on me. Twice this week people rang my doorbell to tell me I forgot to pick up my newspaper. Uh, no, I didn't forget, I was still asleep. I love 'em but what part of I don't do mornings don't they understand? PS: Thanx 4 the BR.

I get people turn up here to see if i am ok if no one has seen me or been able to get intouch with me that is just as annoying as when they keep ringing,i know they are being nice but there are things that i have todo as well as places i have to be.Most of the people do not email me as they do not have a computer thankfully as they would do all three ring, call in as well as an email.lol.

hi jugsjugs oh my well I have had days like that and this is what I usually got, the register wanting to sell me the paper, a gruff voice insisting renee is here even as I told him he had the wrong number, he yelled get renee on the phone now.that one I slammed the receiver on. then i got another phone call asking for Mrs. MOrrison. on a hunch I asked her if this Mrs. Morrison by any chance was named Renee. and she sounded amazed, why yes how did you know. I told her about the gruff sounding guy who wanted renee and how mean he sounded. I found out Renee was his ex wife and no love was lost , and then she asked again and I told her no, that was an old number that i just got when I got my phone put in. renee does not live here. She asked was I in a private home, I chuckled, with ninety people. she wanted to know what I meant and I said I am in room 260 with a roommate. this id Gold Crest retirement center.

I get phone calls asking for lots of different people and i am not in the phone book as i am ex directory.I find that there are also alot of sales people who phone here like time share saying i have got a free holiday, when i ask if they can accomodate 6 children and 2 adults they say no and hang up i think that is funny.Window people on the phone also make me laugh as i always say i have just that week had new windows put in and they also put the phone down. Then you get the phone calls from your friends asking if you are at home knowing it is a home phone i say no i am not, lol.

You may have to do this jugjugs. I know that if I am constantly being disturbed by either one of these, I will take action. The phone will be off of the hook, or I would never answer it. And as for the door being opened, I will pretend that I am not home. My house will be so quiet that you will think that no one is at my home.

I tend to keep my blinds closed at the front of my house during the day during the week so that people think that i am not in then only a few people call in.I have tried to ignore the phone, but i am worried in case there is a problem with one of the children at school so i answer it just incase.

Fortunately, I have caller ID so I can tell when to answer & when not to. Back before Caller ID, I'd either turned the ringer off at the phone or unplug the phone from the wall so I couldn't hear it ring. I'd leave the answering machine on & turned down so anybody calling could leave a message if it was important. Then I'd check the messages when I had the time. I didn't answer the door either. I had a box mounted next to the door with a pen & a notepad so anybody important could leave a message. Worked very effectively!!!

I know the feeling. I keep getting calls from creditors who want money. I keep on explaining to them that we do not have the money, but we are willing to make payment arrangements. Most of them will not work with us. Our power company is charging us a lot of money for our bills and are charging us the same rates as the people who lived here before us. I keep the thermastat down to zero degrees all day long and at night I keep it at 40 degrees. No matter what my husband and I do to save money on our power bill we keep on getting charged more. I would not turn the phone off until you get your important call. We have call waitig and I screen all phone calls.
