Christmas is a real busy time for most people. already my calendar is filling up fast with all the weekends taken with something or other! sometimes I find that this distracts from the real meaning of the season, the real Reason for the Season as some people put it. I have family gatherings, church group dinners, song practices and gatherings with friends who want to 'celebrate christmas' and do gift exchanges. sometimes i feel like checking into a quiet monastery like place where i can just be alone and reflect on the true meaning of christmas. :)

Christmas is the most peaceful time for me, as compared to u!! haha =D I dun have any church activities for i'm not into the religion.. and most of my frenz will be out with their partners, and thus i'm spared.. lol =D PLus, my family does not celebrate christmas too, for they will tend to have their own programs etc, so it's the best time for me to be at home, enjoying my well deserved peace!! haha =D MErry christmas to u!!

Ok...given that you have that chance to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas, what do you think it is? Like you said, we are all pre-occupied with buying gifts, hosting parties, meeting up with friends and family... what exactly is christmas? What are we actually celebrating when we get together and exchange gifts?

Hmm... Instead of just thanking god for dying in our place for our sins, how come there is little mentioned of appreciation for the people who make you who you are in life today? People like your parents. People like your significant other. People like your friends and colleagues who contributed as much to your life as did your religion. Or is that done only on Thanksgiving? I dunno... I am not a Christian. Just voicing out my thoughts. That is a nice song you posted. Some good food for thought! Thanks!

That's why... I think most people just take it as a time to party and exchange gifts. For me, guess cos I'm Christian, the season is supposed to be very meaningful because it marks the birth of Christ. Who came to die for mankind and bring eternal life! The lyrics of this song probably sum it up best for me. Welcome to our World by Chris Rice - can hear it on YouTube. Tears are falling, hearts are breaking How we need to hear from God You've been promised, we've been waiting Welcome Holy Child Hope that you don't mind our manger How I wish we would have known But long-awaited Holy Stranger Make Yourself at home Bring Your peace into our violence Bid our hungry souls be filled Word now breaking Heaven's silence Welcome to our world Fragile finger sent to heal us Tender brow prepared for thorn Tiny heart whose blood will save us Unto us is born So wrap our injured flesh around You Breathe our air and walk our sod Rob our sin and make us holy Perfect Son of God Welcome to our world

I guess that's not really Christmas? Mothers day fathers day birthdays and CNY? hee. now most people just take it as an excuse to party and get drunk. which is kinda sad. you sound like a real filial ????guy! :)

I think Christmas gets over rated alot of times too and it gets to be too hectic and too busy for people to actually have the time to enjoy the real meaning of it. We stopped doing all of the hectis things and stay home alot to enjoy the holidays.

I love the hubbub....like the activity but do look forward to Jan and settling back in for the winter into a nice quiet routine.....but it's the holidays when you usually get to see all your friends and family and catch up and I wouldn't miss that for the world!
