Senator Jim Demint: "Why Didn't I Say That?"

Apparently now it's something to be envious of when another politician has a disrespectful outburst towards the President of the United States for the first time in history while the President is addressing the Joint Sessions of Congress. Here's what Demint said at a gathering of tea-party activists for the premiere of a documentary film about the movement: “When I heard this ‘you lie’ comment, the President turned and looked at me and I said ‘Oh no, they think it’s me,’” DeMint told the crowd. When he learned it was Wilson, DeMint said he immediately became concerned that his friend could face a firestorm of criticism that could threaten him politically. But, DeMint said, “a couple days later, after he raised a few million dollars off of it, I was thinking ‘why didn’t I say that?’” Read more here: http://www.politico.com/blogs/glennthrush/1209/DeMint_Wish_Id_thought_of_You_lie.html So much for civility and protocol! Any thoughts? Annie

And yet, no-one seems to care that Obama WAS actually lying. The reason people supported Wilson is because he reacted from his gut, emotionally and truthfully, when he heard utter lies being told to the American public. Demint was obviously joking about being envious because of the fundraising success Wilson had following his remark.

Obviously you're right, Wilson was acting from his gut. Annie only likes that kind of realism though when it's a democrat who calls women wh0res and says the opponent wants you to die quickly.

I will agree with you there. Some people will excuse bad behavior on one side but then condemn it when it comes from the other side. Personally I would rather see BOTH sides act like professional adults.....but I won't hold my breath.

You gotta know DeMint. He meant it tongue and cheek. He was making fun of the way that Wilson behaved and then because of that behavior he got "rewarded" with a huge increase in campaign contribuations. Wilson did not know that was going to happen from the incident. But it did. Personally I can't stand Wilson. He is a spinelss jerk, in politics for the wrong reason. DeMint.....well he is not my favorite politican. But he does rank up there. That is probly because DeMint is more Libartarian leaning than a Republican. Which appeals to me.

Annie, I thought it was quite obvious that it was a joke and that he was simply envious of the fundraising that Wilson managed.
