Do you support the US war against the insurgency in Afghanistan?

Do you think the US is doing the right thing by bringing 30,000 additional troops to fight in Afghanistan? Do you think it's a good idea or a bad idea? I am just interested in your opinion. I don't want anybody to get upset by this question! I will not judge one way or another.

It's nice that you're being so open-minded with a question like this. Politics, and specifically war, are not easy topics to start around here - just because most people usually launch right into their narrow-minded and extremist opinions without caring about who they hurt in the mean time with their mean words. lol. I am not really politically aware, I never watch the news, but it seems like it has to be done, doesn't it? I don't see an easy alternative. Not that we want 30,000 more troops out there - as in a perfect world, they'd all be safe, and at home, with their loved ones, and not deployed, but it's definitely not a perfect world. I would say that if the president has decided to do this, it must be for a reason (not that I have 120% faith in our president, but still.) I just hope that this does it, and that it will only be necessary as a temporary thing.

Personally, I wish that it wasn't necessary, but I believe that it is the right move. We can't just leave Afghanistan and forsake them, because that would be amoral, and make other countries like us even less than they do now. The last troop surge worked it reducing violence, so there is no reason that this won't work too. It saddens me that it means that more good young men and women are leaving home to risk their lives, but I believe it's necessary. My prayers and blessings go out to the troops and their families. I can't thank them enough for what they have done.

I also feel sad, that our troops are having to go over there and sacrifice their lives, but I do feel that we are needed there ! And I also feel that these other countries with us in NATO are keeping us with our hands tied behind our back, and not letting us do the job we need to do, to finish this fast, and get it over with! They are the ones causing us more harm than anybody!

It is a tough question. I wish this whole thing was over but it isn't so I guess it is wise to listed to the people that are actually there as they know what is needed. The mistake I think is putting an end date to it, like saying 18 months. This will assure that our troops will not get the support they need because people will fear retaliation from the Taliban once we leave, and the Taliban can basically hide out and just do sneak attacks and just wait that 18 months out before attacking again. But unfortunately we are in this situation and I don't think there are any good solutions or answers at this point.
