Im not that keen on ironing. I only do it because I think some clothes do look better if ironed.
I know some people who never iron their clothes. Sometimes this is obvious, when they wear creased up clothes.
I try to iron clothes only once each week. But as Im an avoider, it sometimes takes me two sessions to get the ironing finished.
How often do you iron? Are you fussy?

I guess it depends on the fabric. Some crease really easily. Many people avoid buying clothes that require ironing now.

I never iron my clothes. I know I have an iron somewhere but would really need to search to find it. Since I retired I have only bought casual non wrinkle/non iron clothes.

You ex sounds like he was never satisfied with a lot you did for him. Now he can do his own "perfect" ironing or get one of his large family to do a perfect job of it.

Yeah, good idea. My daughter at asge 16 doesnt think of that, and she some clothes that are difficult to iron.
My ex hubby had to hasve his police uniform ironed PERFECTLY. Creases in exactly the right place. He never really liked the way I did his ironing.

Reading through the comments, it seems to be a rare person that irons on a regular basis. But I know both my mother and my mother-in-law used to iron every week, for hours. Things have changed and not so many hours are devoted to such domestic duties.

But, on the other hand, if ironing satisfies your internal standard of doing thing the right way, then it may well be worth the time. Yes, times change and people are different, but some of the patterns we develop in our life time have a value of their own.
Have a nice day.

Yes, I probably need to change with the times. I know a lot more people who dont iron, than do.

You are very lucky that someone else will do your ironing for you.

I probably iron every two weeks in the summer and once a month in the winter. My summer clothes need to be touched up more than the winter ones. I'm not really big on ironing. However, I've known women who got rid of their iron because they didn't feel they needed it. If nothing else, I need mine for crafts!

You do better than me, because I iron every week regardless of the season. I have a small pile of ironiong now, but Im not doing it because it's so hot.

Ironing is required not only to make clothes look better but also to make them free of germ. I use to iron my clothes of mine as well as the clothes of my son, father and mother. I enjoy ironing of my clothes myself. Because I don't know why I don't like ironing by any other member of my family or a laundry. This is may be because I am bit particular about my dress especially when I go for any function.

I wasnt aware that ironing would kill germs. I suppose it is the heat.

You are very correct. The heat not only stiffens your cloths but also kills germs to some extent.

I just haven't found the need to iron my clothe often now, as I hardly ever go out, and am just stay put at home all the time. In the past 6 to 8 months I just haven't ironed my clothes more than thrice.... ha ha ha... I don't feel the need to... If I am regular with my rehearsals for theatre, then for sure, I do iron my clothes often, at least twice a week or more.

The truth is I am even more lazy, when it comes to ironing, and I only buy clothing that can be wrinkle free in the dryer. If there is a possibility that they are able to wrinkle they become clothes I wear only around the house, that way I can be wrinkled, but no ironing for me.

Wrinkle free clothes are a good idea. Sometimes my 16 year old daughter chooses the tpye of clothes that are a real hassle to iron.

I use to iron once a week, all my clothes for work. Then I got a dryer that got rid of the wrinkles when you dried them. So now I take the clothes out of the dryer and hang them up right away. Its great because there are no wrinkles. I don't remember the last time I ironed.

I do ironing everyday. I was clothes weekly and put them together after drying. But its only when I am going to office or anywhere then i run to iron my clothes. Its really a mess when there is no light as I have to depend on used clothes that time or go without ironing.

Wow! That must be a nuisance for you ironing every day. Why do you sometimes have no light?

Hi, jenny. Ironing has become a part of ourselves. Personally, I don't want to go out with creased or crumpled clothes. When the children were younger, our house helpers do the ironing twice a week. When I started to lessen the number of house helpers, I do the ironing myself on weekends because I iron better than they do. That is the household chore that I am very good at. Sometimes when I become lazy to do it myself, I let someone come to do the ironing for us. It only lasted for two times as I really wasn't satisfied with her work. I usually just fold clothes that are for house wear. The walking clothes and uniforms should pass the ironing board.

I have casual clothes which are wash and wear type and where ironing is needed we have a laundry guy close by who takes care of it. I have never done this chore and if I am in a mighty hurry for something then my maid comes to my rescue

Ironing is one of my most hated house chores. It's really annoying, so I can't seem to iron more than 3 pieces of clothing in the same day, and it takes me a lot to do so. Usually I get to finish before the next time I wash clothes again, but it might be finishing the same day.

Yes, it gets to be a nuisance of one has only just finished the ironing, and you are ready to do the next load of washing. It never ends.

Donmt blame you in the slightest. If you can afford to pay for your clothes to be washed and ironed, why not! You would have better thiungs to do with your time.. @clocks123 (1225)

i don't iron at all. i make my own downy wrinkle release in a spray bottle. a little bit of fabric softener and lots of water in a bottle, shake, spray, and get those wrinkles out as i hang them up on a hanger. the whites and towels are in the dryer, but wash and wear is all hung up on hangers and sprayed with my own wrinkle release spray.

Really! Now thats a good idea. I hadnt realised thatr fabric softener mixed with water could get wrinkles out. Does it work for most clothes?
I usually hang my washing on the outside line.

I usually iron my uniforms a couple of times a week depending on how many days I've worked. I am provided with 4 tops so can usually launder 3 at a time. If there is anything else around that needs ironing, I'll do it at the same time but, I dont buty a lot of clothes that need much ironing.

Hello, Jenny. I'm an avoider as well. I assiduously sort the laundry so that only the clothes that look like Mother Theresa's face without moisturiser make it to the ironing basket. This strategy means I only need to spend about an hour a month ironing - and that's 59 minutes too much for me!

I so laughed at your comment. Im not quite as an avoider as you then. Now that my ex hubby has left,I only have about one hours woryh of ironing, per week.

How very true!!
