.....have foods and water, to resist to this hard time? Just for few days or for few weeks? you can resist withaut go to shopping, if you are isolated and can t buy food or water? Do you like to have food for one month or just for 2 days? Never know what will be....are you one who have this in your mind? I ask this question, just because, now here is a lot of snow, snowstorm, and i can t go to shopping jut because all ways are blocked with snow; i am one who like to have all time, in my house food for one month, maybe more, just because i know that life can be unpredictible, and never know what will be....

Hey there! Fortunately it's not snowing here yet, so I still haven't had to face that problem. Just in case lately I try to have enough food for a week at home, because in this season you never know what can happen.

Hi mad tea party: i think it's totally understandable that we can not be prepared for a future event unless it has been proven in the news and everything that we have to face them. Hope you'll be prepared and you and your family and friends will be ok. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. -Alvaro.

hello icesmile, it is better at the early time you have stock a lot of goods, can goods in your house. So that in times of any natural disaster that will come, you are secured with food. actually at times like this, food and water is the most important we need. did you ask for help to somebody to help you remove those blocked snow so that you can pass by and bought something for you and your family? What i am doing now, since we dont experience snow in the philippines, but always were typhoons, floods. every payday, i make sure to purchase some canned goods as stock in our house.

They asure us, because we live in a isolated place, that if we need medicine, water or food they will bring us with special cars, but for moment, because all time we are preparated to have this hard winter, peoples from here have all what they need;

I think we never thought of that since we are living in a city we usually do our supplies every week and keep it that way. I think if worst things happen like what happened in Haiti or Chile it would be very hard for us to really to store food. I think we just need to be together until the end of things but we will strive to provide the needs for as long as we are able to do so. In such incidences I guess it is God who will provide for your needs just have faith in HIM.

Hi, Icesmile! During hurricane season, I make sure to keep at least a full week's supply of everything in the house. Now, however, it varies, depending upon how much time and money is available. This week -- not much of either! I could get through two or three days at most.

Hey icesmile~ I like to always make sure to have extra food in my house too! We also had a snowstorm here, but it wasn't as bad as it was supposed to be! Hopefully I will be able to get out to the grocery store on Tuesday so that I can get a turkey for Christmas Dinner! But, I always have plenty of extra food in my cabinets in case we were to get snowed in! And while I'm doing the grocery shopping I will stock up on some other items just in case we get another storm!

Hi, icesmile. When one of the strongest typhoons hit our country almost 20 years ago, destruction was massive. Electric posts were down, big trees were uprooted, roofs of houses blown away, flooding was everywhere and even small houses were totally destroyed. There was even more damage to the place days after that. There was no electricity and water service was cut in most areas. Good for us, we have a manual water pump where we get our water --- even shared it with the neighbors. What was worse was that we didn't have electricity for over a month --- and I had just delivered my youngest son at that time. Because we were aware of the coming typhoon, we were able to buy enough supply of food and other basic necessities. We bought a supply good for at least a week because we know that the typhoon only takes a short time and it is easy for us to shop because we are in the city area. I know it is different in your end with the snow. I am not very well knowledgeable how you can get through the thick snow --- I know there is always a way. Will shoveling help? When you get the chance, you can go and get a month's supply of food. When you have it, use only what is needed in order that your supply lasts longer. I know you will get through this predicament. Pray and don't worry.

I have not the slightest. Lol. My husband and I live with his parents and so they do the major shopping, we only pick up things we want. In any case, I would have to say we'd have enough for a few days. Truth be told it snowed on Friday, and we were out in it, and again on Saturday, though it didn't snow, and Sunday as well. When we get our own place I'd have enough food for a week and a half, and then if we ran out of food after that we'd simply go over to his parents, whom we'll be living behind once we get our own place.

i keep alot of canned goods on hand like soups, pasta, vegetables, fruit and meats so we have a variety just in case. i also have a large cookie tin packed with matches, lighters, batteries, and hand can openers in case we lose power. we bought a camping stove to use so we can cook and we try to keep flash lights stashed around the house as well so we are prepared and i have alot of candles as well. we are snowed in right now. we live in nj and we had a major snowstorm here yesterday and we have at least 2 feet of snow if not more. we usually do not get that much but every once in awhile we will get a whopper like this one. so it is good to be prepared. i also keep powdered milk on hand.

Hi there Ice Smile. The snow Storm is already here but you do know this as well as we live in the same country. Well now leaving the joke aside, i know you are talking about serious problems like snow 1 meter high or more. Well we could manage for up to a week i guess, but no more than this.

We don't have any bottled water in the house. So that would definitely be an issue, but we have several other beverages, so we could make due. We do however have at least one week's worth of canned food to live off of, two, if we ration it out and are very careful(Tomato soup anyone?). But, if there is a big storm in the forecast I do stock up on essentials, as well as make sure we have candles and flashlights ready if the power goes out. The other thing is, we live in the middle of a major city, so there are several grocery stores within walking distance, even be it a long unpleasant walk.

Hi icesmile: I think that your idea is simply excellent and can actually help people to survive in those moments. Now I have food for almost a month but it's difficult for me to keep this huge quantity of food, because of my own economy issues. Normally I have food for only some days, but if i'd knew in the news that there will be some hard storms I'd buy enough food for my own security. Thanks for asking us this question and for explaining the reasons you chose to have food for a month. Have a nice day. -Alvaro.
