I saw a survey on a website today that asked the question, what do you argue about most with your partner over the holidays. The options were Shopping, Our Budget, Which Events/Gatherings to attend, Other, and We don't argue during the holidays. I answered "other" because we usually argue about my husband's drinking, as well as other people's, but mostly my husband's. So, what, if anything, do you argue most about with your partner over the holidays?

I actually thought this would be an easy question to answer until I thought about it a little more... to be honest, I have never fought with a spouse or partner during the holidays. The reason for this is that I have never been with a man yet that has taken any ownership in the whole holiday hubbub. With my first husband, I think he thought we had a magical Christmas elf stowed away somewhere that made sure that, when everyone got up Christmas morning, Santa had been by during the night! I did all the shopping, cooking, baking, event planning, budgeting... all of it... alone. Second husband, sort of the same deal - although I'll give him credit that he was willing to shop with me if I asked. Not really volunteering but would go along. So, I guess the only arguing I do is in my own head... usually about justifying whether I should spend a certain amount on a certain gift or something of that nature LOL!

Interestingly, my husband has no problem with the money spent as long as he is with me and he can use his debit card. He doesn't like me shopping alone because then I use my credit card and he doesn't like seeing that bill come in.

Lately we argue over a little bit of everything. Guess the stress of life is getting to us. I try to ignore it when he nitpics but it isn't easy.

No arguments AT ALL!!! My husband and i are getting out of town on Christmas day. His family is scattered, my family is in two separate branches that are feuding like the hatfields and mccoys, and my husband and I are getting the hell out of town. LOL Our budget consisted of gift cards that I earned on line and a few bucks that he gave (matched the value of the gift cards) because why should only one of us spend what we earned on the whole thing? We really don't understand fights. We just laid out what we could do, and we're doing it. We're cooking a nice low-key Christmas dinner for a friend of ours who has no family in town on Christmas eve, then we're going to Toronto. As for drinking, we all drink our fair share (hubby, me, our friend) but we know when to stop, so that's not an issue.

I saw that one too, but didn't answer it. (I don't have a partner, so it's pretty hard to argue about anything with something that doesn't exist.)
