De-cluttering - AGAIN |

| Ok....alot of you know that I moved house back in October & have moved to a smaller house...I am still sorting through all of my "junk" & have come across 3 formal dresses...the first is outdated by a long shot with puffy sleeves & a big bow on the butt in an apricot color...it was a bridesmaids dress for my Aunt's wedding in 1991 & i used it as my formal/senior prom in 1994...the next is a maroon bridesmaids dress from my good friends wedding in 2002 which could be used for a prom dress but needs drycleaning & s little repair from poor dressmaking on the makers part but i wioll never wear the dress again...the 3rd is from my good friend/penpals wedding where i was maid of honor in 2002 & this dress has the potential to be worn again providing it still fits me... I know thw saying is...if it doesn't fit, you won't wear it, you don't use it or if it doesn't have sentimental value, get rid of it but I am asking what would you do?? I am up in the air as to what I should do with these dresses... PLEASE HELP | | | | | |

| | This is true lol...I guess I have held on to it because it was the dress I used for my high school formal as well so the school memories are attached as well but I haven't worn it in 15 years & I know I won't fit into it now... | | | |

| | hey good for you to start thinking about this. my 16 year old daughter was in a wedding when she was 12 and of course the dress is too small for her but it was the only time she was in a wedding, so what my mom did (she actually made the dress originally) was made the dress into a pillow and gave it to my daughter for Christmas this year! | | | | | | |

| | That's a really great idea!!I'd love to do that but i'm only a basic sewer - I'd ruin the material rather than make it into something great. | | | |

| | Here's what I would do: I would love having the first two to use for crazy quilting. I'd dry clean the second one, using the cheapest cleaners I could find. I'm always looking for inexpensive luxury fabrics for crazy quilting and would be delighted to find some sentimental ones in my closet. Right now I'm working on a wedding photo album cover for one of my daughters using two handkerchiefs from my mother and grandmother and pieces of off-white silk from a former formal of mine. With the beautiful apricot and maroon colors you could make a lap cover and a big square framed to use as a picture. The good material I didn't use would be offered on freecycle. I'd try on the third one and I'd ask myself what percent would I give to my chances of having an occasion to wear the dress in the future. If it's 40% or less I'd put it on freecycle for someone who could really use it. | | | | | | |

| | I wish I knew how to quilt!! You have some REALLY good ideas there! Bu even if I did know how to quilt, I don't know if I'd have the heart to cut up some dresses :( | | | |

| | If you can't sell them on how about donating them to a charity. The other place that might like them is a theatre or drama group as they can be useful costumes. | | | | | | |
