Mass suicide, would you consider that is the faith to God?

From news program, and other magazine readings, some cultures, such as those Central America, or less advanced cultural communities, such as the descendants of Mayan, they believe in their Gods which would guide them an exit way to heaven. On some extreme religious group, they would perform mass suicide, which believe that is the way to exit out to heaven. Would you consider that is the extreme way to show their faith to God? Or it just an brutal way to end one's life without any justifiable reason?

I think this is a dirty trick played by people who claim to speak to God but don't. I have a friend in my poetry group who is actually a Jonestown survivor. That man was nuts. God had nothing to do with him whatsoever or at least not any kind of God I want to believe in. She writes really amazing poetry about her experience now. Sadly, she is also disabled because of it. She now tremors 24 hours a day. I keep wanting to ask her why she does that, but then I realize that it's none of my business and is probably inappropriate to ask.

Hi felice369, Well to them it might be a way for them to express faith, but per the Holy Bible this is not the faith that pleases God. The faith that pleases is God is the life of His Son. We can only please God by having His Son dwell within us and obeying the will of the Son within us. Only one sacrifice was ever needed, and that was Christ's.

It's like all things in life. It's a test of intelligence. One should always rely on facts and not beliefs.Beliefs should motivate us to search and discover facts, but should never be relied on blindly. We see what the results of that are.
