Shrimp! |
| |
| I don't normally cook with shrimp very often due to the cost of it, however I just had to buy some this weekend when I realized just how healthy it was! Naturally fat free, and no carbs, but it's jam packed with protein! What more could you ask for? So the other night I made a healthy pasta dish using a low-fat parmesean sauce, whole wheat pasta, veggies, and shrimp. It was so good I thought I was eating at Olive Garden! I've decided I'd like to make shrimp dinners more often, but will have to look up some healthy recipes, because the only way I've eaten shrimp in the past is deep fried or drowned in butter! How often do you cook shrimp at home? Do you have any favorite, healthy ways of preparing it for your family? | | | | | |

| | That doesn't sound bad at all... although I'd still like to find some recipes that do not call for oil. It's very high in fat, although it is a good fat, I'm still trying to cut down on it! | | | |

| | I really really like shrimps especially "Shrimp Sinigang". Since coconut crabs triggered my allergy, I cannot eat seafood that easily. That includes shrimps (T-T). I really tempted to eat but it is the worst if my allergy attacks. I will have asthma if I still insist to eat even just a little. I hope someday my allergies will go away :D | | | | | | |

| | I eat shrimp every month if I can. I use the crab seasoning to add flavor. I put some butter in the pan and cook it down. I add onions and there you have it my great tasting shrimp. | | | | | | |

| | There are millions of healthier substitutes than butter, it should not be used that often, it's terribly unhealthy for you! | | | |

| | Hey kats! Shrimp is wonderful to cook with and there are so many ways to make it besides fried or with butter! I always make it with veggies, and some sort of pasta or maybe just lots of veggies and some kind of light sauce! I love cooking with shrimp! The only thing that is difficult is to wait until it is on sale! I never fry shrimp and always just stir-fry it in a teryiaki lite sauce or something to that effect! And sometimes make it with rice! There are so many recipes you can find that are low calorie! Shrimp is healthy for you and tastes great! | | | | | | |

| | Hi katsmeow1213! Seafoods are part of our daily food. We cook foods with shrimp about 3 to 4 times a week. Right now I am thinking of shrimp gyoza and tempura. yummy! I use the combination of olive oil, corn oil and extra virgin coco oil for frying them. Using healthy oils is good and it also adds a nice aroma and adds up to the flavor. Happy mylotting! | | | | | | |

| | We don't get shrimp very often either. I usually get it when walmart has a bag of it for $5. I haven't experimented on too many ways of cooking it though. I made fettuccine alfredo one night and put the shrimp in it and everyone liked it that way. Usually we just steam it, put butter on it and dip it in cocktail sauce. Parkay has a spray butter out that is healthy. I do the weight watchers program and that spray butter is 0 points. I think it has 0 calories and 0 fat or something like that and it actually tastes good. So I can have my shrimp with butter on it but not feel guilty. | | | | | | |

| | I never buy shrimp because my kids won't eat it. I don't normally get it when we go out anywhere either. The only way I have ever had shrimp that was even remotely healthy is in shrimp cocktail. | | | | | | |

| | We don't cook shrimp at home, we get it out somewhere. The only way I like it is Popcorn shrimp, which I think is deep fried. I am not a fish person really, salmonm, tuna and shrimp does it for me. Good Luck with finding recipes, I am sure there are many to choose from. Have fun cooking as well! | | | | | | |
